I rewatched Blackphone for the tenth time (it's one of my favorite movies) and briefly wondered when Finney said the line "Robin would have gotten out… I'm not getting out of here." How would you react in that situation? Then, in the scene where Finney finds the cable and tries to escape through the small basement window (which, unfortunately, doesn't work), I wondered if it would be possible to escape through there, but with a different plan.

You could leave the cable connected to the grate "protecting" the small window and then use the thin iron bar next to the valve inside the toilet cistern to pierce the glass without removing the grate.

So, if it were possible to tie a piece of the wire to the small circle of the window...

with the glass broken, all that would be left to do would be to pull the grate and the wire would still be tied, but to the edge or frame of the window. So, with a good jump and a boost, maybe Finney could have slipped through. He'd come out covered in wounds, but free.

I don't know if my plan is too crazy (illogical) or if it might work. Help!
