I'm not a big fan (heh) of the IWTV fandom going into TVL and beyond it. I see discourse daily about Claudia was abusive to Lestat and Louis; how Louis was abusive to Lestat while pretending the inverse is not also true; how Armand did nothing wrong; how Louis is a perfect victim who was never hurtful or selfish. The online IWTV community tends to ignore the majority of the nuance when it comes to these characters, and it makes me SO sad, because the fandom was so much better about these things when it was just seasons one and two.
I also think a lot of people online are ignoring the glaring problems with TVL. The writing is not as strong as previous seasons, but I don't think the fans of TVL are the same fans of IWTV that really cared about the writing. I see so many people acting like the scenes of Lestat and Louis fighting are funny, (same with Louis and Armand) when they're the exact fucking opposite. These arguments aren't funny, Louis attempting suicide is not funny, Lestat and Louis physically fighting is not FUNNY. The kind of fans in these online spaces who think these things are the kind that only care about the "yaoi" and don't actually engage with the story, I'm convinced. It saddens me that a story so beautiful has been reduced down to "the twink Armand kisses boys teehee and also he did nothing wrong."
