I love how all the httyd books start by remarking how hiccup is the least person you would pick to be the hero of the story.

Like. Hes not cute. Hes not handsome. Hes not tall. Hes a small bastard that almost actively is the literal opposite of what a viking should be but how does he looks like? G e n e r i c

Hes like fucking emmet from the lego movie. Hes average looking. He definitely has crooked teeth and pimples and greasy hair and is fucking short and is full of freckles but not in that "three simetrical freckles that you see in shows" way. Freckles that are just all over the place and hes full of scars of all kinds ans sizes and i refuse to belive that the kid went half purple for an entire book and didnt get permanent marks later. Like hes so fucked up hes closer to look like a generic character on the villains side, not like the hero he is.

And every fucking books starts by remembering us this. Like. This is hiccup. Hes small and weak looking and has the most average face you could imagine. Now were gonna see the hell of a life he has for reasons almost completely out of his control. Like Hell yeah
