A PECULIAR MADEMOISELLE.

it’s  not  hard  to  find  him  at  this  point .   the  girl  has  learned  his  routine,  at  first  for  the  purpose  of   avoidance ---   now  more  or  less  out  of  study.   he  spends  most  of  his  leisure  time  alone .   perhaps  she  might ,   too ,   if  she  were  used  to  it  the  way  he  appears  to  be .   sweeping  crimson  cloak  drags  over  the  cobblestone  path  as  she  approaches  him ,   finds  him  sat  on  a  stone  bench.   always  curious ,   she  is ,   as  to  what  could  be  on  his  mind .

❝  i’ve  found  something  you  might   enjoy ,  ❞   she  speaks  gently ,   no  longer  hesitates  to  take  up  a  seat  at  his  side .   gently  does  she  place  the  book  within  his  palm ,   reach  cautiously  for  his  other  hand  to  guide  his  fingertips  over  the  book’s  raised  title.   ❝  BRAILLE .   it’s  a  way  for  you  to  read . . .  ❞   that  is ,   if  he’ll  even  give  it  a  chance .   unfortunately ,   the  man  remains  unpredictable  to  belle.
