“Serket, you entirely spaced out and nearly demolished this poor counter. Are you all right?”

Serket squinted briefly, almost as if not believing Rose, before finally settling into a calm smile. She reached up and patted Rose on the shoulder, nodding.

“Ah, yes, quite alright actually! You gathered everything you needed, yes? Do you want to do any more poking around or are you good?”

She gestured behind the counter, as well as towards the freezer areas, before settling her hands on her hips. 

“Serket… Serket!”

Rose reached out and tapped on Serket’s shoulder, bracing for a possible panicked response.

Luckily, the response wasn’t panicked, so much as simply a hard, far away stare as Serket’s head rolled back somewhat unnaturally, looking Rose in the eyes for a few long uncomfortable moments before blinking slowly.

“Mm? Hello Rose. Did you need something?”

“…Serket? Serket, are you all right?”

Rose walked over to Serket with a concerned look on her face.

Rose reviewed the items present and decided that she would certainly have to improvise. She took one of the lighters, a flare, two ice picks, and one of the bags of salt and stored them all into her sylladex. For a brief moment, she was thankful that the weight of everything within the extradimensional storage space didn’t weigh on her.

“All right. A little ingenuity will be necessary, but I am as prepared as I can be.

Serket remained entirely out of the moment, staring at the front counter with her hands placed firmly at the surface. She seemed to be squeezing, hard, so much so that the wood was actually starting to split just a bit. Notably, her breathing seemed a bit labored, though nothing as to indicate why. 

“Considering the fact that flight likely counts as a power, I believe some climbing equipment may be necessary.”

Rose looked at the building again.

“Perhaps a spare coat, if they happen to have any lying around in my size.”

Serket frown.

“A point well made, though I’m not sure if we would find much in a place like this. Certainly worth a venture though!” With that, Serket approached the station, stepping through the door, briefly regarding the sign saying TAKE WHAT IS NEEDED before heading in.

The interior of the station was a little barren, but still surprisingly well stocked for an apocalyptic setting.

There were four jugs of water, several types of candy bars, jerky, a few long barreled lighters, mittens, a small station near the back to make hot chocolate, packs of nuts, handheld flares, a few packaged flare guns, a few ice picks, and a huge pile of massive bags of salt, likely meant to melt ice. Unfortunately, there didn’t seem to be much in the way of hiking equipment. It was still a nice assortment of things, all considered. 

“I did bring a good supply of food and water from home. Do you think we will need anything further? Any sort of equipment?”

Serket tilted her head.

“Well, I suppose that would 8e up to your judgement. I’m a ro8ot with skills that can forgo any traditional equipment. Even if powers can’t 8e used, I shouldn’t need much aid in scaling this mountain. Strong grip,” she noted, wriggling her fingers. 

She shrugged.

“Anything you think might need covering? 8eyond the 8asics?”

Rose looked at the building again.
