Again.
Why did she have to fail again?
The sniper could still hear the security alarms from her most recent extraction point long after the miserable helicopter ride back to base. The high pitched ring gnawing its way deep into the back of Widowmakers mind & steadying itself until further notice-- much to her dismay. Sounds... they were always such an annoyance to her-- a hindrance, really, more than anything else-- & the louder & more persistent they were, the further on edge she would be brought...
Today’s fumbled mission would prove no exception to this fact as she ground her teeth tight, silently hoping that the pressure alone would give her mind something more to focus on. This was the third mission now that something had gone wrong & prompted an early retreat, & once again it was due to the sheer level of incompetence of those she was sent out with. It wasn’t even that hard a task, yet here she was: running home with her tail tucked between her legs like a dog.
This time, it was a new mistake on her teams part. A grunt had managed to unknowingly trigger a sensor in one of the mid levels of the Helix office they had infiltrated, resulting in an immediate recall of the operation. A hail of gunfire & a few wounds later, they would all be heading back to their current Talon oriented base while Widowmaker relayed the mission status back to their commanders. It was only during the ride home that she came to a conclusion on how to potentially fix the rut her organization was stuck in.
Reaper had made a few mentions here & there about a talented gunslinger he had worked with during his brief time within the Overwatch ranks-- that, & a cybernetically enhanced assassin who had long since gone missing. If anything, there was no harm in asking if either or could be cleared for induction. As far as she was concerned, the worst possible outcome would be that of Reaper demanding she leave his quarters, & who was to say that would the route this conversation would go down? The wraith was never the most predictable of beings...
It took barely any time at all for Widowmaker to make her way across the base & to the living quarters, stopping only once she found herself at the councilman's room. Two stiff knocks upon his door was all she would give before speaking out, her voices tone a mixture of both urgency as well as irritation. Though she claimed to never feel emotion, it was safe to say that the assassin was still more than capable of expressing things every once in a while-- it just so happened to be some form of displeasure more often than not.
“--Reaper, I have a few things I would like to ask of you, should you be available. They are of utmost importance, I assure you. Would you care to let me in so we may discuss?”
