It sure is something that it’s Robby who notices the incorrect placement of the EKG sensor pads on the large breasted female patient instead of Dr. Al-Hashimi — an extremely capable doctor who has demonstrated her breadth of knowledge and attention to detail over the previous 13 episodes AND owns two breasts of her very own.
What a wild writing choice, my guy.
since we’re all going to die, there’s one more secret i feel i have to share with you: i did not care for the godfather (dennis whitaker); did not care for the godfather (dennis whitaker).
The Office: Jim and Pam Plot Devices + The Pitt: Frank and Mel Story Arc Season 2
realism is when first week intern whitaker goes through his day teaching others with confidence, not making any big mistakes, having a huge amount of responsibility without crumbling under it at all, giving career advice, and being displayed as far wiser than an intern should be. while senior resident samira mohan makes a fatal mistake, messes up constantly, is barely at any important trauma’s or cases, and consistently doubts herself to the point where she thinks she doesn’t belong and is pushed to leave emergency medicine.
okay got it! you guys really worked hard to replicate the real life disadvantages women(of colour) have in medicine, but managed to do so without commenting on it or condemning it in any way! and then you say that there is no such thing as misogyny or unconscious bias going on. great job guys!

Realizing that The Pitt’s format doesn’t really fit the kind of story they want to tell anymore.
S1 is a gem… why ? Because it stands on its own. The narrative arcs are balanced and actually conclude, we understand the dynamics between the characters without feeling like the dialogue is just exposition aimed at us, the critical message about the U.S. medical system and its impact on ER workers’ mental health is clear, all of it carried by sharp writing and top‑tier production. Almost everything that was set up pays off cleverly, like a well‑placed Chekhov’s gun.
The one season = one‑day format works in this specific context. The one where the characters exist to serve a larger message : showing the mental load these workers carry, and how that weight shapes the way they relate to each other and to their work.
S2 drastically tightened its focus on Robby. He was already the MC in S1, but back then he filled that role because a story needs a through‑line, and the writing still gave the other characters space to exist, grow, and matter, even when their arcs weren’t directly tied to Robby.
Not in S2.
S2 narrowed its focus onto Robby and his mental health, and the rest of the characters now have to serve that narrative one way or another. If they don’t, they either barely appear on screen, or they do appear but without any narrative arc that actually goes somewhere or reaches a conclusion. (apart from a few exceptions, and even then..). No proper Chekhov’s guns.
this could work if the show used a format where a season spans several weeks or months, giving enough time to build multiple storylines, to let certain episodes focus on different characters, and ultimately to bring several arcs to a meaningful close.
But that’s not the case here. With the one season = equals one day structure, if the story isn’t about Robby, the other characters end up feeling like narrative tools designed to support his (and it leaves a sense of general dissatisfaction with the results). You could argue that this is true of all stories, but well‑crafted storytelling doesn’t make you feel the mechanics. In a well‑constructed narrative, the strings aren’t visible..We expected The Pitt to be a tightly crafted story, not just a another good enough one.
the show ends up sidelining characters who were so carefully set up in S1, leaving many of their narrative promises unfulfilled. Their arcs become odd, thin, or driven by choices that seem to appear out of nowhere.
and this becomes problematic when contrasted with S1. It’s inevitable that such a shift would generate criticism and disappointment, given that the audience’s expectations are anchored in that initial season. This isn't because we hate the show ; it's mainly because we used to love it
+ It's without even addressing the real life aspect, where numerous comments from the actors and producers strongly suggest a disconnect between the material as it was conceived and performed, and the version that was ultimately assembled for S2.
And don’t come at me with "realism" or "you just didn’t get the subtext." I did get it. But 1) realism doesn’t automatically make for good storytelling, and 2) I fully understand what the show was trying to convey — what I’m criticizing here is the form it took.
Baran Al-Hashimi does not drink
i know we all love to write and view Baran as this suave, alluring older woman who romances Trinity at the bar, and drinks expensive wine, and knows how to handle her liquor, but lets keep in mind
Baran has a seizure disorder. she takes an anti-convulsant medication
if she has a seizure, it could potentially endanger herself, her son, and her patients. it would disrupt her life for at least six months because she would lose her drivers license in that time
Baran would not be drinking. ever.
alcohol can greatly increase the likelihood of seizure activity in people already diagnosed with a seizure disorder. i have known people in my life who have epilepsy, who cannot drink or smoke due to their condition. granted that person still chose to, but they did not have a license nor rely on their car, nor were they a parent with a young child, nor were they a doctor
we saw pretty clearly throughout the season, especially in the finale, how Baran's disability impacts her mental health. it influences so many of the decisions she makes, and for all her experience and capability and brilliance, her condition does still limit her. and she hates that, we see that she hates that
Baran has lived with this condition for almost her entire life. she knows the risks, she knows her disorder well. she knows that drinking could increase her chance of having a seizure, which could dramatically impact her life for at least half a year. she would absolutely not risk that, not for anything
from everything we have seen of her personality and her relationship with her diagnosis, i believe that Baran takes exceptional good care of herself. a balanced, healthy diet, more than sufficient water intake, exercise, a regular schedule, mental stimulation, good communication with her care team, proper medication and treatment of her seizure disorder, and not consuming alcohol or smoking
hell she said sleep deprivation could be a possible cause of why she had her seizure. if she thinks lack of sleep could cause her to have a seizure, something she is determined to avoid as much as possible, why on EARTH would she choose to drink alcohol??
i try so hard but every time i read a fanfic where Baran is drinking i genuinely feel my eye start twitching, like i physically cannot suspend my disbelief about this
‘but the names combined as a ship name = boring’ fair BUT can we all agree Ronance is the ship name of all time? Like imagine telling people about your favorite ships and then there’s one just ONE letter away from spelling out romance. Like. ITS SO BUZZY OK

There’s an emotion only unlocked when you live in a house with multiple stories. I call it “the stair emotion” and it’s when you realize the object you need is on the other side of yet another trip up and down those goddamn stairs. It’s the closest I get to transcending the desire for material goods. Maybe I don’t need that notebook. Maybe I don’t need anything.
