At the time of his death, Sergei von Zarovich used his very last breaths to entrust his Sunsword to his beloved Vilomen. The prince's soul then travelled from his own body to rest in the cradle of Vilomen's ribs, settling onto his unbeating heart. The sword was later ripped away from him by none other than Strahd, not knowing that his own brother's soul still lingers elsewhere. Due to a curse having been placed upon him by Azalin Rex, Vilomen walked his days devoid of memories pertaining to the people he has loved and will love.
