Why does no one talk about how amazing it feels to try on a binder for the first time?
I grew up with very transphobic parents and a mother with internalized homophobia so I was never able to explore my gender and sexuality until my teens when I got a phone and made friends with queer people who've helped me explore my identity. Recently, I've been exploring my gender identity alot and I don't really know exactly what I am but I've decided it doesn't really matter all that much if I'm happy. I knew I wanted to look more masculine and have a less feminine body shape and I started looking into binders and all the sorts. My parents are super transphobic and theres no store near me that sells binders so I couldn't buy one online or in person so I went to pintrest to figure out how to make one. I took an old pair of biking shorts, cut them, folded it, and layered a sports bra without padding overtop. I cannot put into words the amount of pure, unadulterated joy I felt looking in the mirror and seeing myself with a considerably smaller chest. I am forever grateful to my amazing friends who have supported me and helped me figure out who I am and the amazing people of pintrest and Tumblr.
