it’s such a basic part of the reality of disabled people as a whole but it’s STILL so hard to get ppl to understand that some people will simply die without 24/7 care. their care is not for comfort, it’s not for fun, it’s literally a matter of life and death. “if their care was taken away i’m sure they’d learn to suck it up like the rest of us!” – something ive heard time and time again. no they wouldn’t, they would die. they HAVE died. they continue to die as cuts are made to welfare and health. why is this so impossible for people to grasp.

Yes! With my hubby, starting back before we were even dating! 💕 One day my heart was all wonky, this was before we had even started dating (we were just really close/best friends), and since he was an EMT he used the stethoscope I had in my house to check what was up with my heart. After he was done thoroughly listening to each spot (both sitting up and laying down), he asked if I wanted to take listen to his heart and he moved it around his chest for me going to all the auscultation points! 💕 He’s my hubby now, and we have used my stethoscope on each other many times since!! 🥰

It’s been a while since I’ve stethed someone, and someone stethed me! But I’ve stethed a couple of bare chests, and would love to do it more! 🫀🩺

Thinking about soft doctors and gentle encounters. They’re genuinely happy to see you, smile brightly as they greet you, and listen so actively when you speak. They always tell you what’s going on, what they’re doing, where their hands will be as they palpate your body. It’s an intense focus they turn onto your body as they flex your joints, test your reflexes, press their fingers into your abdomen. Their hands are sure and warm, nitrile gloved fingers ensuring your health. Their eyes crinkle into a smile as their cold stethoscope presses to your skin and makes you jump, apologizing even though you both laugh. You relax, your heart sings in their ears as they take their time listening. This is both your favorite part. You’re seen. You’re heard. You’re safe.
