No, seriously. He meets all of the requirements. Tall, not conventionally attractive, a villain (at least initially), skinny and white.
Do you deny him the privilege because heās a loving father with three daughters? Because of his difficult-to-place accent? Because his unconventional attractiveness doesnāt line up with your own skewed vision? Or simply because he would be crappy in a coffee shop au?
Are you all just cowards?
Let Gru be a tumblr sexyman. He deserves it more than any iteration of the Onceler ever would

Welcome back to the fourth consecutive Movie Run down, the yearly post where I talk about the animated movies I saw this year.Ā
As obvious real life events started to affect film releases, it was a time where moviegoers and film buffs started to revaluate a lot of things about the film industry; the films themselves, theaters, below- and over-the-line crew, film studios and the media conglomerates that own them, while the state of cinema lingered the question of a possible cord-cutting phenomenon in its medium, moving instead to streaming.
Sociological rambling aside, I saw films mostly online, I did manage to go to some showings before my city instated a lockdown, but were mostly for live-action films while I saw a single animated film in theaters (before lockdown), I look foward for the pandemic to improve for next year and finally see the films we missed for this year
La liga de los 5
Chucho Calderón tricks again the Mexican people to think a Mexican animated film is anything but incompetent, I'll give it extra points for effort though but I'll substract them as they casted Regina Blandón as a 15 year old girl in it
Ella Bella Bingo
Stale-looking European flick, not as awful as the rest but forgettable
Onward
Quoting a letterboxd review "I risked a COVID infection for this?", it was obvious Soul was Pixar's big bet for this year however Onward won its opportunity to get released in theaters
Trolls World Tour
I didn't like the first Trolls but this one was actually decent, I never thought that the Trolls universe could get decent lore, extra points for getting rid of Aleks Syntek and having Michelle RodrĆguez in the dub
The Willoughbys
Probably my favorite 2020 animated release, I liked the animation, the character design, world aesthetic and subverted plot; while pulling an anti-Disney usually results in pulling a Dreamworks, Willoughbys stands out by avoiding mediocre action while keeping its family morale
Escuela de miedo (Cranston Academy)
I'm surprised this was supposed to be a summer release here in Mexico and not a autunm release? and it got worse as it got a limited release as some states were in lockdown. Anyway, a downgrade from Liga de los 5 and not just animation wise; but after seeing Ćnima's third 2020 bet El camino de Xico (which did not make it to this list) seems that both this and Liga de los 5 were Ćnima's best
Scoob!
Innocent at first sight, Scoob turned out to be a big mess from WAG; while a lot of Hanna-Barbera franchises have long lost its original concept and just get paired with anything (including the WWE), there was something with Scoob that was more disruptive than any of its straight-to-DVD releases, probably that they were trying to sell another straight-to-DVD plot as a blockbuster. What was the idea this time? starting a Hanna-Barbera cinematic shared universe
Fearless
Netflix tricks me into watching a Vanguard movie, boring and forgettable, nice Wii graphics
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run
Sponge on the Run made me realize how Sponge out of Water was an underrated film; a lot of hype due its cartoony approach (featuring a strangely textured Sandy) the hype faded away as it turned out to be a promo for Kamp Koral and suffered incredible delays for the American market, as the rest of the world got it through netflix. As mentioned earlier, this movie highlights how both the first film and Sponge out of Water featured something that Sponge on the Run lacked: the surrealism that made the original SpongeBob cartoon successful in the early 2000s
Over the Moon
I liked this film more than Pearl Studio's last flick, which was Abominable. Now avoiding any geopolitical issues by setting the film on space, I appreciate this film as it highlights a bit of Chinese culture using colorful animation, however, the plot was hit or miss
The Croods 2: A New Age
I could say the same as I did with Trolls World Tour which is that the sequel felt superior than the original film, but I don't think its a fair situation as the first Croods film came out 7 years ago which by then I largely forgot about it and barely even rewatched it again fully. This film's first two acts kinda drag on but becomes enjoyable in its third act
Soul
This one was really confusing Iāll be honest, as I got a different moral than the rest, Iām also really feeling left out as a lot of people got emotional with it. But I agree that this is Pixarās most experimental and abstract film yet, disappointed that Pixarās first film featuring an African American lead only got a Disney+ release
Bobbleheads: The Movie
This film didnāt really have a plot other than the antics of bobblehead figures trying to get rid of a white trash family. Looked better than Foodfight but I enjoyed Foodfight more than this
Itās the third consecutive annual movie run down written by no other than me, Molotera. So 2019 didnt have a lot of things, it was kinda a rushed year for me, which is good bc next year has a lot of interesting tentpoles. The only thing id highlight of this year would be the plot twist that im now lobbying for a rather infamous childrenās youtube channel and just cause the mom is hot
The Queenās Corgi
The only thing that makes me more mad than how bad this movie is, is that Saberspark had the nerve to call it good
Lego Movie 2
As equally as good the first film and even expands more on its universe, sadly underappreciated by the public. I am looking foward on what could Universal do with this franchise
Wonder Park
A movie featuring the Legarreta-RubĆn family on the Latam dubbing. Back in its peak people called this movie a spawn of Satan, which i found and i still think its a stretch; actually kinda forgettable, which is sad since im suprised a Spanish studio could pull out such impressive animation and visuals. It was set to have a spin-off series but its fate is still uncertain as im writing this
Missing Link
Laika always delievers, and this was no exception. One of the best of 2019, and this one has a personal meaning for me... I wont elaborate on it here, but you can read my letterboxd review
Uglydolls
This year was the year for animated movies based on toys. Same case as Wonder Park: got a lot of hate for embracing a lot of animated film tropes, but guess what? it wasnt actually that bad, i mean i didnt have a lot of big hopes for this film and when you have a story written by Robert RodrĆguez and directed by the guy who directed Shrek 2, there is no way you cannot nail it
Secret Life of Pets 2
Illuminationās offering for this year, "Brian Lynch is the Todd Howard of the Illumiantion crewā i wrote on my first review, i didnt know how could you make a franchise like Pets more mediocre than it is already but the madman did it. And of all the animated women ive seen in my draftswoman career turning Katie into a milf was really an unexpected choice
Toy Story 4
After producing some questionable sequels, it seems like Pixar hit a nail with TS4. It was met withĀ criticism on how can you give a continuation to a story such as Toy Story but i gave good faith to the crew, and they did deliever with a nice epilogue
Angry Birds 2
For some fucking reason the public went toĀ āhow can you make a movie about Angry Birdsā toĀ āAngry Birds 2 is truly a masterpiece ahead of its timeā Sure the first movie did well but it was because it had no high expectations whatsoever and the sequel was no different, i do not care the guy behind Flapjack directed this, Angry Birds 2 is in no way superior to the first film
Playmobil
I wrote some time ago that i wasnt sure if the guy directing this movie was going to give us a good product or he was going to pull on us an infamousĀ āfrom the producer of Shrekā because he had ties to Disney, to which he replied he was going to deliever. Im not gonna say he lied because it was evident that he was really passionated about this project (and ive seen little people being so passionate about their career and works as DiSalvo was) Sadly, Playmobil did not live up to its directorās expectations
Abominable
Not much to say about this one honestly, other than being a product seduced by the Chinese government āso dont be surprised it claimed they ate the entire south asshatā and having Karen Polinesia in the dub. The plot twist at the end was kinda suprising and obvious at the same time as many films embraced this trope this decade
Addams Family
Years and years as i kept listening on how Morticia and Gomezās marriage was admirable both in this hellsite and twitter. This remake played it safe and enjoyed it, i look forward to the sequel and to address Fester and Margauxās relationship as well
DĆa de muertos (Salmaās Big Wish)
It was widely spoken here about how a Mexican studio won a lawsuit to Pixar over the Dia de muertos name to produce a film; eventually, Pixar would release Coco and Metacube would release DĆa de muertos. Who would have guessed that the American-made movie would feature theĀ festivity in a positive light and resonate better with Mexican audiences than the Mexican film, featuring 2 fair skin leads and having the dark skin lead be the funny sidekick and jokes based around the dim nature of the Mexican. This sure said a lot about our Mexican society
Klaus
At first i didnt like the pseudo-CGI look of this film, but it had a cleverly written story about the origin of christmas, i know it was a huge work for Sergio Pablos and his studio to push out a film like this, and i congratulate them
Spies in Disguise
I feel like this would have a more interesting world-building as most of the action is centered around Lance and Walterās antics, what is with spy-centered films having such a rich universe just to be ignored the rest of the film?Ā

welcome to the second consecutive movie run down made by Molotera your friendly rule 34 artist neighbor; im not gonna lie, 2018 was a year full of changes. So many shit came down, to name some of the changes: i have a full time job and im not studying the same career and college i was studying at the beginning of the year. Lost some mutuals and tumblr deleted my nsfw blog, but hey i finally asked that guy i really like out
anyway this post is abt this yearās animated movies. Feeling accomplished that i managed to go on opening day of many movies, while i have written in more detail some of the movies i saw on my letterboxd, this is just a quick rundown. As last yearās was, didnāt catch most movies and saw some online
La leyenda del Charro Negro
im glad this franchise is over, i didnt hate it but it sure went nowhere, other than the netflix series
wait it isnt
Early man
Aardmanās clearly weakest, looking foward to their next Shaun the sheep movie
Marcianos vs. Mexicanos
i blame Chucho Calderón for hyping me abt this movie, i hope Huevocartoon focus on more non Huevos-related media for the future, but with a fucking decent script for once, and a sole audience in mind
Sherlock Gnomes
one of 2018ā²s surprises, a decent adventure movie, with some surprising 2D sequences: all of this done by the same studio who made Gnomeo and Juliet, problem was, it was a Gnomeo and Juliet film, and the villain was bad
Incredibles 2
not as engaging as the first one but good nonetheless, it was nice to see Helenās ass in action, but the disappointing part was the Wannabe supers were wasted, i mean, dont fucking promote a celeb like Sophia Bush if shes gonna be used as a villain minion. Edna and Jack-Jack took the cake on this movie dont @ me
On a side note: Bao was a cute short, i really hope the girl who made this manages to get a bigger directorial role
El Ćngel en el reloj
I only heard this movie through Hoy, and it featured former Hoy member Laura Flores, totally forgettable
Hotel Transylvania 3
as soon i heard this movie from your loathable fedora-wearing Canadian neighbor a year ago, i knew this was going to be the highlight of 2018. I discovered the Hotel T movies late, and iām a big sucker for theĀ āgiving the protag a gfā trope, and this movie did deliever on both aspects.
Not just Ericka was total waifu material, it also introduced me to Kathryn Hahn and became one of my favs (like last yearās Valerie did with Jenny Slate) and im glad my woman Galilea rocked this character in the Latam dubbing
Smallfoot
eeehh it was okay i guess, not the worst nor the best; the political tone of the story was surprsing
Ralph 2
same as with Incredibles 2, not as engaging as the first one but good enough. I know its Ralph and Vanellopeās journey but i missed Felix and Calhoun being part of the story as well the ditching of the arcade theme
The Grinch
i would say another 2018 surprise but then my Illumination bias would be showing. This movie played the safe route, and it worked (atleast for me): simple script with not many subplots unlike DM3. While not attempting to do any major changes to the main character or the original story costed them critic points, it helped them to make a kiddie toned-down version of the story
Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse
quoting my mom after she saw Roma:Ā āit was entertaining but not the Eighth Wonder of the Worldā
thank you for your consideration and interest in my art, its been two great years, I met a lot of new artists and people to look foward to and improved my art a lot, Iām really thankful I managed to pursue my dream to draw and share the shit I do.
Safe mode was the first blow (and which made me start this side blog) but this was the coup de grĆ¢ce; even if this blog survives somehow, im not returning, as Iāll not support a site that endorses censorship andĀ sexual repression because of its bad management

Is this what you guys think it means when GMO comes up in conversation?
Do you know what else is a GMO?
Dogs. Literally ALL dogs have had their genetics modified to make them more docile, loyal, trusting, energetic, obedient ect.
Ears of corn used to be the size of your thumb. Through selective ābreedingā we chose the strains of corn that were the biggest, fastest growing, most resilient ect. Ect.
THAT is a GMO. I donāt know where the idea that genetic modification meant theyāre injecting your food stuffs with chemicals to change its DNA. Thatās not how it works.
However, they ARE spraying your veggies with pesticides and that is something you should be worried about.
Companies like Monsanto are evil. But not because they are breeding crops to feed more people. But because theyāre monopolizing the farming market, sueing farmers who share a geographic area and have some of the same strains of crops in their fields because of unavoidable cross pollination and lying about their business practices.
This is Normal Borlaug. In 1942 he received his Ph. D in plant pathology and genetics. In Mexico, he developed semi-dwarf, high-yield, disease resistant varieties of wheat. A genetically modified food. He introduced these to Mexico, Pakistan and India, resulting in double the wheat yields in a 5 year span. In 1970, Borlaug was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, for saving one billion lives from starvation, and contributing to world peace through increasing the world food supply.
This, a thousand fucking times this. Privilege is spouting and spreading pseudo-science bullshit you saw on your Facebook feed or on Twitter because unlike people in drought and famine prone areas of the world, you have the option to do just that. Those other parts of the world that donāt have the benefit of a food surplus and canāt pick and choose what they eat depend on GMOs to not die of starvation or watch their children waste away.
I despise Monsanto as much as the next person and if they ever go out of business, Iāll be the first to dance a jig, but condemning GMOs just because one megacorp is a pile of shitbags is beyond idiotic. If scientists can create new strains of seeds that can withstand disease, pests, all while yielding more foodstuff, then we should be throwing our support behind them.
I always laugh when people say āthere are chemicals in my food!ā because buddyā¦. you are chemicals. People are literally made of organic compounds, which are⦠chemical compounds with carbon in āem. YOU ARE THE CHEMICALS
I blew my motherās mind with this once.Ā Sheās a chemtrail, total tin-hatter, and couldnāt believe that I eat Miracle Whip, because āitās nothing but chemicals.ā
So I got on my phone and started reading off a scary list.Ā It had lots of words followed by āacidā, and a bunch of stuff I had to read very slowly to be able to pronounce.Ā
It was an apple.Ā I was reading the chemical composition of an apple, and it goddamn nearly gave her a heart attack from panic.
Not enough people know about Norman Borlaug. He is quite possibly one of the most significant figures of the modern age. Remember that white idiots who think that the earth was made for them this way that say GMOs are dangerous. Much like with stem cells, we canāt let fear mongering shut down one of the most powerful weapons of peace.
