🌏ASIA: ASIAN HERITAGE MONTh- A 50 DAY PROJECT BY MAVRYCK LANCE M. / L9NCE / LANCE (ME)

📍Ever since the beginning of May 2019, I have started a project in honor of Asian Heritage Month. I myself, an Asian (a Filipino) felt the need to make a stand against the idea of “Asia being China, Japan, and Korea” and I wanted to let everyone know that there’s more than that idea, 50 different countries! I’ve always wanted to do this project and I’ve decided it was this year to make an impact.
Every day up to June 19th, I have posted alphabetically each country of Asia.
I felt the need to do this, to show a message to myself and many other Asians that we aren’t alone. We aren’t all the same. We all come from different backgrounds, different cultures, different roots. We don’t have the same features, Asia is a vast continent that has so much diversity among its people, the environment, and its history.
The stereotypes and racism that we face on the daily basis can’t define what an Asian is.
Everyone is different, no matter how hard you try to generalize everyone as one, it can’t happen.
I drew 100 different types of people across the vast continent from the 50 countries. None of them look the same, each has their own heritage and own root that makes themselves unique and incredible.
📍I wanted to honor everyone in Asia by presenting how amazing and unique their country is, and by doing that, I hope that people like you can understand that we aren’t all the same, the “3 country Asia” idea is discarded by this and thus shows that our heritage shapes us and let’s us be, our own person. I’m proud to be Asian.
