NNK2 spoilers you’ve been warned

for the most part it’s standard role swappy-ness; characters switched with each other

Evan < - > Tani

Leander < - > Doloran

Batu < - Roland < - Bracken < - Batu (bracken came from the other world, Roland’s a sky pirate, etc)

This leads to other characters switching to fill rolls too, like Nerea and Alisandra are swapped because of Leander and Doloran being switched. Maybe Nella and Gerel, Nu Bi And Fai Do, whichever makes the most sense fitting the new context.

Roland and Doloran wouldn’t be soulmates anymore (maybe twins?), but Bracken wouldn’t have one as a plot point; she would be brought over for other reasons I can’t decide yet

There would also be a species change for who’s rivals with who; rather than Mice and Grimalkin the feud would be between Humans and Dogfolk (Unless Tani becomes half human half another species, which is a nifty idea but changes a bit). I’m not sure which kingdom it will take place is rather than Ding Dong Dell, but the obvious answer seems to be Goldpaw.

The method of assassination that leads to a coup (which will still happen - Tani’s mom dies) will probably be magic done via Li Li or something? I’m not real sure yet.

Merpeople were destroyed with Hydropolis, and Aligoria is still around. Maybe Leander is a Merperson too?

Some minor character notes -

Bracken was a very esteemed engineer back in her world and was very well known, especially for her work on advancing prosthetics. She’s not aged down like Roland was.

Batu is the primary militant leader for Broadleaf along side Chingis and Khunbish (who fill the roles of Trey and Zip)

Roland, though not as violent and Batu, is still a very stubborn leader to the Sky Pirates. The only reason he’s convinced in joining Tani is via Evan, who he’s adopted.

Nerea’s magic wasn’t able to stop the destruction of Hydropolis, and thus left it in ruins with Leander as the soul survivor. Much like Doloran he’s dedicated his existence to bringing it back, costs of doing so be damned. The Horned One is probably swapped with Cetus,, but like a Big Cetus

Alisandra is still both a Kingmaker and Doloran’s love but they get to live happily because I say so
