I've Got A Migraine

kyle’s eyebrows furrowed lightly. “you’ve, uhm, apologized enough.” he nodded lightly. the apologies always seemed useless at this point. they didn’t mean anything, at least not to him. he could recall seeing those cheesy facebook posts about cheating and thinking these are stupid, i don’t think anyone relates. and now he knew what they were talking about. “yeah...” he trailed off. but did he? “you do too --- and i hope you get it. i really, uhm, do.”

kyle was going to try his best to keep the conversation to a bare minimum, only the basics being said --- but when he heard her statement, his jaw dropped. how did that get brought up? uh not people. it was echoing in the back of his head. realizing that his jaw was basically laying on the ground, he closed his mouth and tried to muster up words. “that’s good?” the blond rushed through the questioning statement. was it a question or a statement? he was so dumbfounded by her words. uh not people. “i’m also not doing people? so that’s, uhm --- yeah, good. i’m good.”

“are you sure you ---- “ the male began, but was quick to retract his question before it was even complete. “okay.” he muttered, sitting back down. kyle kept his gaze on the girl, observing her. “i’m sorry....”

kyle remained silent for a moment. the other did have a point, but it was beyond him how to even respond. “i, uhm, guess so.” he agreed with a hesitation. “i still don’t want to intrude on other’s typical settings?”

when your days were well, something always had to step in. kyle had always known he was sometimes an awkward person, but realizing it was barbie made him even more awkward. he could never figure out why he would always have sudden bursts of this when she was around. i mean it was over --- it had been over. “it’s fine.” his eyes drifted to the ground quickly. “i was actually on my way out, anyways, and uhm ---- yeah. so ... “ he trailed off his eyes lifting back up to the ground. “thanks? i , uhm, guess. so yeah.” words were escaping him. god, why are you like this? fighting back ever piece of awkward that had yet to come through. “so, uh, how have you been?” he said, questioning more if it was the right thing to say rather than as a question itself. 

any typical day was filled with school and kyle avoiding all contact as much as possible. his dad thought that maybe he was going through some really terrible, awkward phase --- but let’s be real, who wants to talk to people at your high school? with his feet perched on the seating of the bench and his phone in hand, he sat on the back of the bench --- that was until he felt a lingering presence. “oh, uhm, i’m sorry if i’m in your spot.” he muttered, grabbing his backpack from beside him. “i’ll, uhm, move.” the blond assured as he stood up.
