First Bible 📖! As a father, I desire that my children spend their lives pursuing the ways of Jesus. One of those spiritual disciplines is reading and memorizing scripture. Today Koen and Kashton were equipped with their first Bibles. I remember receiving my NKJV in June 1996 from my 5th Grade Boys Sunday School teacher, Mr. Holifield, at Mims Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas. I may have had a Bible before this, but this is the one that I have kept, highlighted, taken notes in, and now 26 years later, still have on my nightstand. I pray these Bibles become part of my boys' daily walks with Jesus. I loved seeing them open it up right away at start reading. They had seen the highlights in my Bible, so they right away wanted to highlight some of their favorite verses. Thank you, Jesus, for Your Word! Green Blaze & Red Fire took to the track for the Awana Grand Prix. So much fun seeing the boys ideate, plan and build their cars to then compete and cheer with their friends. 2 years ago Emily had to plan Danny’s 40th surprise birthday like a month early so he would not suspect anything. What he thought was LifeGroup night where he came ready to serve some of his tasty ribs, instead was a packed house of friends ready to celebrate HIM! I ran 10 miles for the first time today. 🏃🏽‍♂️ I wouldn’t say I have ever enjoyed running, but in this season of life and leadership, I’m pushing myself out of my comfort zone and attempting new things. “You don’t get better by doing the same thing.” @craiggroeschel Pastor Craig teaches in the latest episode “Learning to Lead Yourself, Part 2” that trying something new will do three things for your leadership: 1️⃣ It increases your humility. 2️⃣ It gets you comfortable being uncomfortable. 3️⃣ It builds your confidence that you’re always growing.
