Season of Entropy

At first, the newly wound watch

Tick tocks with confidence;

The interlocked cogs

And gears work together effortlessly,

And with growing trust in each other’s

Limitations and abilities.

As time passes, however

Inevitability invites himself

As it always does

To each and every opening

Of our love

An abrupt explosion of

Resistance and

Soon the gears get caught in each

Others sharp teeth,

And the cogs become bitter with resentment

Unhinging the springs holding

Them in place.

and then finally

the watch gives its final

Agonizing tick and

Tock

Then nothing

A master at adaptation

And reaction

Unable to feel

What it is like

To climb to the summit

The irony

its claws searching without mercy

in its quest to tarnish my soul

This unforgiving thorn

has been struck deep into my chest

it can only burrow so deep

before I can take a full breath again

but alas, I can still taste

this unrelenting anguish of eternity

and more and more i fear

in its inevitability

i am falling still

down

the abyss

we call

the after-math.

when you vanquish the fires

that keep you from reaching into the pit

the smoldering ashes will bring

you glory, the glory of the dark truth

which is that everything has been

a lie

and all that ever was,

all that ever is,

and all that ever will be,

is quite irrelevant

to the knowledge of

Imagine a dense conifer tree forest in the middle of autumn: you can see the leaves are almost all the color of a southern California wildfire. the winds are crisp as well as sharp, and the air is cold but you are warm because you have a fresh batch of caffeine in your cold hard hands. You can almost smell taste and see it all become a complete image; such is the power of words.
