At home, we have only black moths. Formidable creatures, to be sure, but they lack beauty. They thrive on the dark and the cold.
- What do they feed on?
Butterflies, I’m afraid.

don’t care didn’t ask plus my psychic visions foretold all this
Hey y'all! As you know, I've been working hard the last year to kick off my writing career. I've written and submitted a ton (waiting to hear back from a few mags!), scheduled my first novelette for publication, launched an author website for free stories to live on, joined shudders twitter, and made a ko-fi! I've been a busy bee, but it's starting to slowly come together.
I'm doing my best to build a name, even if it only ever ends up being a small one. It's a lot of fun and what I've always wanted to do, but it's still A Lot, and if you want to help out a little, there's a way!
In addition to one-off donations to my ko-fi, which are EXTREMELY appreciated, you can sign up to be a ghostie! It's $3/mo; the price of one regular donation, but recurring. It might sound small, but things like that really make a difference.
My ko-fi is still getting started. Right now, what's up on it are announcements for stories and, of course, my novelette, but going forward there are going to be monthly reading wrap-ups and more things still in the planning stage. It should be fun!
If you're interested in becoming a ghostie, click here! Or if you prefer, you can also use that link just to get to my ko-fi and make a one-off donation. Like I said, anything helps! All support means the world! <3
It could never be your home

Anne Rice: so anyway meet my 10 new OCs, they have no distinguishable personality but they wear shiny shoes

@kuroshitsgiven i'm going to answer your question this way because it's going to be kind of long!
First, the best place to start is actually checking the blurbs in the back or front of your favorite, recent books in your target genre. Authors almost always shout out their agents, which can give you a good idea of who to start researching, since you know they're into your genre and books like yours. An alternative to this is to check the socials (twitter is best) of your favorite authors. They often have their agents listed in their bio.
Second, Publishers Weekly entries for books provide agent names, so I'd suggest looking there as well. You can also check on manuscriptwishlist, though I'd suggest checking the personal site or twitter of anyone there you're interested in, as sometimes the information can be outdated.
Once you've done this and got a few people you like, you can expand your list by 1) checking out these agent's social media accounts and finding other agents they interact with; and 2) by browsing the other agents listed at the agencies they work for
Finally, I'd suggest checking out querytracker, which is a platform where you submit to agents directly. They have what they're looking for and who they work for listed as well, so even if you don't find anyone that fits your needs, you can check out their affiliated agencies.
Basically, it's going to be a lot of back-and-forth work. Don't get discouraged, though! There are so many agents out there. And seriously, don't underestimate the helpfulness of checking out twitter. A lot of agents are there, as well as pitch parties, which are helpful in finding new people to query.

bring back Georgian-era sentence structure. fuck this single clause Hemingway bullshit; I want to string the reader along for pages, to link, however disparate, an endless array of actions using every form of punctuation I can imagine - even those I rarely use - and generally be as incoherent as possible (though it is to be said that this is for internet and casual use, and not for increasing the impenetrability of research papers, a far less noble goal than the one I proposed).
My favorite line so far in Falcon and Winter Soldier 2020 Falcon and Winter Soldier #1 (2020)
