really glad i never met with those photographers that kept on contacting me to take (nude) photos of me a few years ago when i was pretty active on tumblr. i was younger but i was still smart and never fully trusted and was definitely a little concerned with how persistent they were; but i was also curious and part of me did want to meet to see how the photos would turn out, and i was starting to discover how empowering nudity can be.
but it would not have been empowering in this context. i’m older now and i’m just really fucking glad i didn’t do it. because now i’m seeing some of the people that continually reached out to me now being outed as dangerous, abusers, and on blacklists. fucking a. watch out y’all. there are some predatory assholes out there. and when people tried to warn me about them, i wrote it off as typical concerns about the internet and strangers, etc. but really, they were right and so was my gut instinct. i was only 18-19 years old throughout that time and these photographers definitely saw that i was not super secure in myself and were wayyy too eager to consistently reach out to convince me to trust them so that i would be nude with them for “art”.
