Silver bread tab pendant with box chain
Sterling silver pendant and 18â box chain with clasp.
This silver bread tab pendant and chain is a small addition of 15 chains total created as a collaboration between my brand The Invisible Space and Secret of Manna. The significance of the item is a reminder that sometimes the simplest thing holds everything together and though physically small they have a huge impact.
Sometimes those small things are easily lost or forgotten and we find ourselves doing a lot more work to compensate for their absence without even realizing theyâre gone.
So never forget the small things they often hold it all together.
Real product shots coming soon. @iamDeray posted it on his instagram so I had to make it available to you. If youâd like more photos just message me and Iâll do my best with what I have at the moment.
I curated a playlist for an installation in Tokyo. Do me a favor and visit and like this post to get some traction on it from over here. Thank you đđž
Tokyo Show
If I were to be most honest with you I would tell you that Iâm not sure I can completely express my gratitude for the love and support I received in Tokyo this past August. It was a real moment for me and it all happened so fast. I had been planning to do some type of exhibition in Tokyo since last November. I had these big ideas and thoughts of how it should be, all super expensive concepts for my first activation in a place where I have been inspired by for a long time. I felt I owed something great like that to Tokyo. Our end solution didnât end up being any thing like my first ideas but it was perfect. Because of time we decided to focus on the Mental Health Is Real brand. Itâs the first time Iâve done something dedicated to the brand and honestly it was long over due. Here is a short statement I wrote for the pop up shop that explains the conceptâĻ
The concept of the pop up shop is to create an environment that encourages conversation around mental illness. De-stigmatizing mental illness is really important, annually over 20,000 people loose their lives to mental disorders yet there is little conversation about mental illness or mental health. I think when we can speak honestly about whatâs going on in our lives we really build stronger connections and an even stronger community. The pop up shop acts as a medical office waiting room and an effort to be comfortable normalizing honest conversation and self expression in popular cultural destinations like Harajuku where the installation takes place.
I didnât know what to expect. When I first got to the space I was buzzing and picking apart what Nomura and Masa had done already. I pulled out the 4 paintings of the Chance covers I did starting to feel like I needed to buy more things for the pop up. In my excitement I was running around Tokyo working. Trying to get everything I thought I needed to sell the concept. At some point I stopped myself and had to be completely honest with myself. The reality was that the pop up was happening in a day and there was no time to overthink things or be busy trying to sell myself to an audience when just being present was enough. After that I chilled. Of course my goal was to sell as much as we could and it went well due to the work Dum Dum TV did. We had a few write ups and tweets and apparently thatâs all we needed. We completely sold out of all but 4 shirts by the beginning of the final day and by the end of that day everything was gone. Totes, tees, hats, free post cards, all gone.
I was out in Tokyo at the same time as so many people from Chicago Chance, Peter, Stix, Joe, Reese, Nico, Kirsten, Krystal, Sam, Dillon, Rob, 40, Knox, Liam, Lane, Julio, Tyjuan, Vince etc. etc. etc. it was like 20 people I knew from Chicago all in Tokyo. Despite that only 4 people from made time and came through to see the pop up. So thank you Joe, Tyjuan, Vince and Peter for coming through. This was a big moment for me so that meant a lot, for real.
Thatâs all I have for now. Singapore trip coming up later this month will definitely post about that as soon as I have some content.
Thanks for reading make sure you check out the gift shop before you go.
Peace
Speaking Engagement: Black in Design at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design
Since this event my world has gone into hyper drive it has been such a blessing to my life and my spirit. I was invited to speak at the second Black In Design conference and the prestigious and intimidating Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. But the reality is it wasn't intimidating at all. Went in there and I stayed true to who I was and people were authentically appreciative of it, I had an amazing trip. I feel like I haven't said enough but I want to get this out there so I'll come back and writer more if it feels right.
-Love You and Thank You for your support

#Over9000 06.10.2016 see you there.
This was awesome. Who caught the performance? What'd you think? (at Grand Crossing Park)
We snapped didn't we? Master life paths 33 and 11. #Over9000 artshow work featuring work from @dougankhim and myself on 06.10.2016 at @chicagoartdept. We're not fucking around. If you care about art you don't want to miss this show.
I painted this the night Prince passed. It's not completely in his likeness (partly because I gave myself 45 min to do it in oil paint). I did it because I couldn't get his music out of my head, by the time I got to my studio nothing changed. Now I know I'm posting this late but it's because I can feel the world grieving his loss more than I could on that day. It's lingering like I wouldn't have imagined, in fact I never imagined a world without this guy in it and I guess all death is coming to terms with that reality. His and Mike's music was pretty much the climate I was born into, and my parents didn't listen to rap so he & Mike we pretty much the biggest stars in the household. The impact of his death is teaching me that life changes without your permission, it will continue to do so, and we can choose to receive the gift of acceptance or live in the grief of denial. I have fully embraced him as a true artist and visionary. He was a gift to a lot of people and I think the reflection of his life is inspiring more artists to be a gift to the world. Obama just gave a powerful speech about gun control. I don't know how I feel about it. From what I understand it basically means more thorough background checks for purchasers of guns. That's a good thing right or is this the first phase to denying people the right to own a gun at all? That's what most of my long time friends would say. We're disenchanted by our political system that's why we don't trust it that's why we'd deny any genuine thing that's do, because the treachery has been so deceptive and inhumane. But I think the goal is to keep majority of the people disenchanted and convinced that their votes or voices don't matter. People may be doing a lot of complaining but that still don't mean you're not docile. We need to take some actions and make it all of our responsibility to make sure we're living in a just government. That's why I think voting matters. But we it doesn't stop there 141 counties in the US have more registered voters than the current living population. That's a violation of federal law. There's also going to need to be pressure put on our political system to make sure it isn't fraudulent. We have a long way to go if we really want this shit to be fair. The question is who's willing to put in the work?
