Canary Flag

A canary is a headmate whose presence in front indicates that the system is nearing their 'limit', in whatever way that means for them. For example, their presence may warn the system that a crisis or meltdown are about to occur. This can be for any reason, such as being more sensitive to stressors or exposure to certain experiences, or needing more rest or support than other system members.

A rare original post, because I don't have my own coining blog. :) Decided to dabble in vexillology and create a flag for a term I coined in September of last year.

Flag Meaning

The warm tones of the lower stripes and the canary represent the higher energy, urgency, and/or distress experienced by them.

The dark blue sky and the lighter star, aligned in the same direction as the canary, represent the distant goal of quiet and relief.

The canary itself is representative of the "canary in the coal mine": a common example of a sentinel species, or a species whose higher sensitivity to environmental hazards can indicate danger to humans.

This flag uses a canary icon by Aijex Tole from The Noun Project (CC-BY 3.0), which was very slightly modified. This flag is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC-BY-SA) 3.0.

Like a bitch/slayer, a jackass is a headmate who is being a "jackass" or jerk to people who they feel deserve it. These headmates can be a protector, persecutor, persecutor-protector, etc etc.
