'okay, what are you doing?' zanka let out a heavy sigh as he looked over his shoulder. you were pressed up against his back, had been for the last few minutes. you only giggled in reply to his words, pressing closer to him as you put your face right against his cheek.
'i'm hugging my beautifully perfect boyfriend!' despite the blush on zankas face from the nickname he huffed at your reply.
'you're holding my ass.'
'yeah!'
zanka sigh yet again, turning his head back to the work bench in front of him. he took care of his jinki very seriously and you love watching him pay attention to her every detail, cleaning her throughly and fixing any damage. it was sooooo cute! you're gonna cry from how cute he was, taking care of his Assistaff!
you couldn't bring yourself to bite or attack him like usual when cuteness aggression hit you, and instead settled on leaning against him from behind, both hands holding his ass. you knew it would have the same effect as squishing his cheeks or biting his nose would, he always ended up flustered and looking just a little annoyed no matter what!
'i'm dating a weirdo' zanka mutters, running his hands up Lovely attentively to check for any rough spots on her. you dramatically gasp from behind him, squeezing his ass in reply.

'zankaaa!' you drawled out the vowels in his name, letting your body go limp against him after trying to wiggle your way out of his grip. no matter how heavy you were or how much you fought, your boyfriend was strong. you didn't stand a chance!
'yes?' zanka answered calmly, as if this was ordinary. which it was, but, annoying nonetheless!
'zanka.' you tried yet again, voice more stern now. you couldn't find the energy to actually voice a complaint β you're hungry, tired and hadn't slept well β and zanka actually listened now.
he put you down, squishing your cheeks as you pouted at him and turned your head towards the plate.
your toast had the chocolate cream you put onto it, but also two cute bunnies out of those fake strawberries sold here on the Ground, with a little heart in the middle. zanka smiled expectantly at you, but his face dropped into his normal one as he saw you still pouting.
'stop looking so mad' he huffed, reaching up with his other hand to pinch both your cheeks, pulling on them and ignoring your noises of protest.
in the end you both ended up play fighting in the kitchen until zanka got tired of you and threw you over his shoulder again.

i adore how in almost every modern au lovely assistaff is zankas crutch , and that he has some kind of chronic illness that is his reason for falling off in school .
everyone agreeing that even in an au where jinkis don't exist and the objects for each character is simply just an object they favour over others, zanka needs lovely to keep going . he depends on her in every universe and that's very cute !
i like the idea of sneakily having matching jewelry with gachiakuta characters (in a couple-y way)... like, tying in tassels to match the color of each other's eyes with zanka, hiding couple earrings beneath your hair with enjin, putting small bedazzlements on each other's jinki's with riyo, etc. i know riyo's isn't really "jewelry" but i think it still counts!
feel free to write about this, but i just wanted to share my thought haha

Zanka isn't fond of big gestures, grand speeches or announcements he was in a relationship. albeit easily jealous Zanka would much rather put a silent mark on you as a way to show you're his than tell of anyone who might be interested in you directly.
making tassel jewellery matching each others eyes became that silent mark.
Zanka had replaced one of his familiar earrings with another tassel one β one the colour of your eyes. you had one the colour of his eyes on a bracelet, smaller but still there, undeniably Zanka based on the blue colour and familiar style of your boyfriend.
everyone knew you were his, and if someone didn't a quick look to the bracelet around your wrist would make them realise you belonged to the guy with the exact same style of jewellery just a couple steps away.
Enjin love showing you off in every damn way possible β he'd probably tattoo your name across his forehead if you would let him. unfortunately, he can't always be attached to your hip, and so the matching earrings you two shared became his way of always carrying you around.
it was simple, two pairs of earrings identical to each other. no one really cared about Enjin getting a new piercing, that was just him, but he felt sooo smug knowing that behind your hair covering your ears you also had a new pair of jewellery.
he loved brushing the hair out of your face whenever you two spent time together β both to see your gorgeous face and to get a reminder that you two belonged together, always carrying that reminder around.
Riyo dislikes being bound down by labels and a traditional relationship, but even then it was nice knowing you would always be with her, attached to her soul β quite literally.
it wasn't anything big, but the mark was still there. a small sticker on her scissors, and one on your own vital instrument. they were so small they barely even existed, but both of you knew they were there and that was all that mattered.
a cute sticker you found at a market after a mission, always closest to a part of Riyos soul, and a red symbol you didn't really know the meaning off β just that it was your lovers β plastered onto your own.
i've been a little bummed about being single these past few days and this made me want someone to love even more π₯Ήπ€ zanka,, and riyo,, my dreamβtypes, mayhaps !

both mama nijiku and kyouka being leaders ,, they might be pigs but at least it's not a patriarchy for a change π€·
i do also wonder how present mama and papa nijiku were in all their childrens upbringing ,, i can only imagine that kyouka now have the most communication with goka rather than their parents , since she's also shown 'scolding' him when he breaks his arm in the manga , but i don't think that was the case when they were younger .
there's no confirmed ages for goka nor kyouka but i would roughly guess that kyouka is in her early 30s and goka late 20s . while kyouka is old enough to the red horns commander now , and probably delivers information from mama nijiku to goka and other hell guards , i doubt she did that as a child . i think both goka and kyouka had roughly the same mentors , wether that was their parents or other adults .
BUT BUT BUTTT i do believe , just a tiny theory , that kyouka was the main mentor for zanka when he grew up ! by now she's around 20 β late 30s and if that's the case , there's no wonder goka is so jealous of zanka !
little zanka might've been raised almost solely by kyouka , in a fucked way yes , but zanka is kyoukas baby !! HER baby !! she's seen being so protective of zanka in the latest chapter and yes that's probably also because zanka is a disappointment towards the family and she blames enjin for manipulating him , but i do believe she also sees zanka as more fragile in a way because ,, she has a soft spot for him deep inside her heart . hidden away in a place goka will never , ever come close too .
this is probably the first blog ive seen to be mainly zanka-brained and i LOVE IT cause me too. i NEED him to have more screentime and ch 171 makes me feel hopeful ππ

this has been said before but i feel so much for poor zanka when everyone sees him obviously struggling with his self esteem , feeling worthless and pushing himself to his absolute limits just to praise him because at least he's not trying to actively kill himself anymore .
this is how you end up with a chronic illness , or a burn out , or potentially ending up trying to kill yourself again . c'mon guys , zanka's SEVENTEEN , he does NOT know what to do with himself and needs proper guidance
just praising a teenager in need of guidance and proper mental support will do nothing but make him worse . it's literally said and shown in the manga / show that zanka THRIVES off the praise he gets and in turn only works harder to achieve that praise . he pushes himself more and more without a single moment of rest and when he inevitably does end up injured beyond repair (mental and / or physical β and i do think this will happen unless he gets killed off first , in the future of the series) his only mental support will be stripped away from him because he can't work for any praise anymore .
he'll be stuck in an empty hole again , lovely assistaff the only thing he will be able to hold onto without feeling like an useless burden and he'll be fifteen all again except now his saviour can't bring him into a life of work and feeling 'useful' β he already wasted that life trying to become better .
