Summary:

“What if we’re soulmates, Lan Zhan?” his voice is still hoarse from sleep. “What if it’s you and me?”

“It’s always you and me.” Lan Zhan says simply. “Things wouldn’t change.”

Wei Ying tries not to scream at how good those words feel. But Lan Zhan means something else, he means friendship, and that’s not what Wei Ying is asking. Because of course it would be a big change. Being soulmates would change everything.

He sighs, forcing himself not to curl into his best friend’s warm body, and tries again.

“I’m serious. What if I’m your soulmate? Would you… What would you do?”

His heart beats like a hummingbird’s wing inside his chest, the anticipation unbearable as Lan Zhan licks his lips and prepares for answering.

“If you’re my soulmate,” Lan Zhan pauses, thinking of his words carefully. “I will love you until the end of my days.”

here’s my spoilery summary because i don’t think many people are gonna see this post anyway

it's an amnesia modern au.

5 years ago, wei ying was in an accident. it erased 5 years of his memory, in which he had fallen in love and created a family, until everything began to fall apart.

lan zhan hasn't seen wei ying since the accident. he's been raising their son alone, keeping the past buried to protect them both. a-yuan only knows his other father existed. nothing more.

lan zhan thinks wei ying was already planning to leave before the accident. so when fate brings them back into each other's lives, he doesn't try to rekindle anything. he doesn’t want to ruin wei ying’s “second chance in life,” because lan zhan knows he’s hurt wei ying before.

but then wei ying starts to fall in love with him, all over again, without knowing who lan zhan is or what they were to each other.

and lan zhan has to carry the weight of a love story only he remembers.
