I had become one of the most feared and honored warriors in our clan. And then, the revenants came. It swept across cities, countries. There were those that thought it was a lost cause. But I was full of pride. I did not think the Lin Kuei could be beaten. We went into a city to try and purge it of the revenants. But they were everywhere. Like a hive of bees. I knew we were going to die. But I thought… Do you know what cryomancy is? No. It is a type of power. A power I possess. And in that moment, fearing for my life, I summoned a storm of ice. But I lost control.

For a long time, I thought the worst thing that I could become was my brother. I was wrong. The storm cut through the city, killing revenants, killing innocents, killing my clan. When it was all over, I was the only one to survive. And I realized that death begets death. And the cycle of violence continues, like the symbol of the Black Dragon, a serpent that eats its own tail. I swore an oath never to use my power again. Never to lose control.

Kitana!!!

Introduced in MK2, the princess of edenia needs zero introduction. Easily the most iconic female face (alongside Mileena) of the franchise (i know Sonya stans will argue this but lets be 100% real here, show a headshot of Kitana and a headshot of Sonya to a rando person, and more people will be able to point out Kitana no shadeeee!!!) ANYWAYS!!! This was actually a tricky one for me, Kitana is such an iconic character that i - one didnt want to do a look that i always loved but fans didnt really recognize as a staple look (such as her basic in mkx), or a look thats iconic that i felt didnt capture her character well (such as mk9) or a look that i felt was perfect but may have been too niche (such as mk shaolin monks), so it left me with very few options. Unlike all the other femme ninjas who are on the list (or was in tanya’s case), i have their pin look picked out immediately. Mk9 for Jade, MK Deception for Mileena and Tanya, and lastly the MK9 Alt for Skarlet, Kitana was the only one who didnt have one picked out. So as a result, with the help of a friend on discord (ty gucci) they helped me settle on the classic mk3 look, with some details carried in from her mk shaolin monks (her arm guards and hairstyle) and the vaguely mk9 inspired fans!!

Overall i’m very proud of this one, i had alot of fun drawing her, and even if its not the most intricate or iconic look of her’s it’s definitely one of my faves!!!
