It's somewhat surprising to me that with the history and real-life examples of socialism destroying the lives and means of lower- and middle-class individuals, that #Bernie Sanders is actually popular. "Democratic socialism," as #Sanders calls it, is no different than what we can see in Venezuela right now. Like a virus, the #socialism fad is gaining ground here in the US despite a world suffering from or recovering from the disease. Perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise. It seems the ones cheering loudest for Sanders are those that have something to gain from one of his absurd promises. Socialism isn't new. It isn't sexy. Federally socializing education, retirement, and healthcare--initiatives that are to blame on both #Republicans and #Democrats alike--are conditioning strategies used by socialists to build a tolerance in citizens under the guise of "helping" those who "can't help themselves." Don't believe it? Mention wanting to eliminate the Department of Education or getting rid of Social Security. Both #conservatives and #liberals will look at you like you punted a puppy off a bridge. We're used to it. And can't imagine living in a place without such things. Socialism is not as much an end as it is a means to an end. If history is any indication, it is a disastrous end of which one can be sure if its dangerous tenants are allowed to fester and spread. Unfortunately, it seems that neither #Clinton nor #Trump offer any real remedies for the socialism #epidemic that plagues the US.

"Trump or Clinton?" Someone asked me this question today and I refused to pick one of those options. "It has to be one or the other," they explained, "those are our choices." Those that know me know that I don't buy that for one second. #Johnson or #Petersen would be perfectly valid (and capable) alternatives. When November rolls around, what are you going to do? Stumped?
