Dani takes Turkey part one:

Let me start off by saying Turkish people are soooo NICE!

The University I am staying at is super HUGE nothing even close to UC Merced. It’s also on this huge mountain or hill so there is sooooo many stairs and so much walking. Lets just say I don’t have to worry about leg day at the gym anymore haha!

I started my orientation this Monday and I’m 10 hours ahead of you all so its already nighttime for me here. Which is a total struggle I haven’t been able to sleep at all at night!! It’s really going to take a while for me to get used to everything here. The food is so much different to. Lord help me! hahah

On the bright side I have meet people from all around the world, it’s amazing! So many people are also staying here a whole year. I definitely could not do a whole year! hahah I already miss home so much! I just hope I start to get used to everything soon before I have a mental break down!!

I hope you all are starting this semester strong and staying motivated! We will get through this together!

Could this be: All the colors of Froot Loops taste the same?!?

Sorry to break it to you, but apparently there never were fruits in Froot Loops.

If you thought that each color tasted differently, it’s because your visual perception of the colors led you to think they should taste differently, when in fact they don’t. This is according to Ann-Marie Oswald, a coordinating scientist of the “Deconstructing the Sense of Smell” program at UC Santa Barbara’s Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics.

In this case, the taste —which is closely tied to our sense of smell— was confounded by the connection between the visual and olfactory sensation.

Smell is one of the most difficult senses to describe in scientific terms because the olfactory system is highly complex. Many of the mechanisms and properties that contribute to our responses to smell still remain a mystery.

This past week I got to go to Kappa Sigma's Grand Conclave and our chapter here at UC Merced won a lot of awards! I also got to meet other members from all over. New Home!! :)

This is our first week in our new home and I am so excited! For the most part I am living with the same 5 people I have lived with on campus for the past 2 years. Although we are super close, we have already had some conflicts but I’m sure it will all get resolved soon. We still need to go get a few more things and do some repairs but for the most part I am happy!
