Raine Whispers

Raine and Eda’s penchant for lying to each other and pushing each other away to keep each other safe aside. (And I’ll never forgive you for follies raine, NEVER)

But can you imagine how GUILTY Raine must be feeling right now? They reluctantly broke up with the love of their life because she wouldn’t let them in, there wasn’t enough room in Eda’s mind for Raine and the curse. So Raine left, not because they wanted to but because they needed to. Both of them needed to walk away from their relationship even if they didn’t want to.

Fast forward, Raine has spent their ENTIRE career dedicated to finding a way to help wild witches, a way to help Eda.

Finally, they’re named head bard. They meet the other members of the BATs and they get started helping wild witches. And who’s the first wild witch they indirectly help? Eda. Why wouldn’t it be? They’re finally reunited for the what seems to be first time in probably 20 years and they instantly fall into old patterns. Eda calling them Rainestorm, Raine being bold and sarcastic with their “I’m just that good” (so confident for someone with stage fright, but they’re doing it on purpose showing off for her because they still love her) Eda’s first instinct when she picks up her lute is to play Raine’s Rhapsody(it could be the only song she knows but that’s not important)

They spend all this time together during Eda’s Requiem, bantering as if they hadn’t not seen each other for 20 years and somehow through all their conversations Luz and King never come up

Now here they are in the middle of the woods about to sacrifice themselves when Raine discovers Eda has kids

How guilty Raine must feel knowing they almost inadvertently took Eda away from them, how in all the time they spent together during Eda’s Requiem they never bothered to ask Eda about her family.

Now we jump to Follies give or take 3 weeks after Eda’s Requiem. We know now Raine wasn’t brainwashed, how painful must it have been to have to push Eda away. To have to fight her and pretend they didn’t know anything of the last month. That’s why Raine’s eyes were darting back and forth when Eda played her tape recorder, Raine wasn’t confused. Raine was trying not to cry which we see they were unsuccessful at once the coven guards find them

Now at the present day Raine is so preoccupied with trying to keep Eda safe they don’t understand the consequences of their own actions. Because Raine has led Eda to believe they’re being brainwashed Eda is now going OUT OF HER WAY to PUT herself in danger in an attempt to get through to Raine
