Isn't it interesting that someone can tell you how important you are but still only share life's vagaries? No matter (or excuse) that "family secrecy" is a thing. There comes a time in a relationship where you let the outsider in. If you love her that much then let her see the ugly side. (Trust me; She already had a preview) And stop hiding stuff behind 1/2 truths and lies. Just let her into your head and heart. If, that is, you really want her to stay.
