OK I keep seeing people refer to the Michigan parasite outbreak and then others will chime in āitās in my state too!ā so to clarify this for everyone it is a NATIONWIDE outbreak reported in 31 US states as of today, July 12th 2026. There is no reason to assume it is not present in the rest of them
NBC Newsā tally shows at least 26 states have reported cases of the parasitic stomach illness, as health authorities race to find the source
The CDC is tracking cases but they are significantly lagging behind the states on numbers (their data is weeks behind) so itās probably going to be most effective to check your individual stateās infectious disease tracking.
This is a parasite that usually causes about 3000 cases of illness per year in the USA, Michigan currently has reported about 2900 (the confusion about āMichigan outbreakā is because Michigan is the first that caught an uptick in cases and has been very proactive about trying to trace them). Last official update from Massachusetts was 18 cases here centered in Greater Boston. The CDC recommends NOT assuming there are no sources of the parasite in your state even if no cases have been reported.
It isnāt an unknown illness but it is an unusual quantity of cases, and the fact that they havenāt been able to pin down the source after weeks of tracking is what makes it particularly concerning this year (harder to contain).
Wash your hands, wash your produce, cook it ideally, and advocate for farm workers to have access to safe and hygienic toilet facilities
it's good for your mental health to have mutuals who are wildly horny about kinks which do nothing at all for you
this is both as in. sometimes you will realise that actually these kinks do do something for you and that can be very eye-opening and liberating
and also as in. sometimes you will hear someone decry these kinks as indicative of moral failing, and being friends with people like this makes you immune to that sort of knee-jerk outrage
Also primes you for awareness that there are a lot of people who like a lot of things you donāt like or even that make you uncomfortable, and that is okay, has nothing to do with their character, and is also none of your business.
Itās always good practice. Remember that minding your own business costs $0 and has numerous health benefits.
āHaving freaky friends to immunise you against moral panicā is a take so good I canāt believe I donāt hear it more often.
"I have been attending the Devil's sacrament with you perverts for three weeks straight and you haven't awakened a fucking thing in me."
I love that the pandemic actually definitively proved a lot of those "hard" questions for us. Masking up reduced cases of the flu to almost nonexistent numbers and we had zero flu deaths for a time. The welfare and social service and unemployment programs helped keep people living paycheck to paycheck out of poverty, and those stimulus checks some folks keep complaining about actually massively benefitted the common man and the economy. Individual personal travel was so extremely restricted on a global scale that we basically have concrete proof that individual restraint in terms of driving cars or travelling means absolutely nothing by comparison because the mass pollution is coming from the fisheries and the corporations with private jets and container ships. Working from home actually has massive benefits for a company like productivity boosts and better mental health of employees while also saving gas
and we're just. Willingly going back to how everything was before. We were shown how to do things better and the people in charge said "that's nice but we just want to get everything 'back to normal' :)"
weāre not willingly going back to how everything was before. we are being forced back into it by members of the ruling class who found out that making things better for almost everyone else made them feel bad.
Let's not forget about any of these things. Let's reblog and schedule this post to pop in in the future to remind us of what we may have forgotten a little.
Do not forget.
My primary takeaway from COVID was "The first thing people did when they had free time from work was they started demanding a better world. The next time this happens the executive ruling class will literally let everyone in the labor class die before they let them have 3 months free time ever again, because they cannot allow that better world to come to be."
Desperately needed to have this on my blog

Double art post Monday!
Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny reinterpret this cartoon first published in German magazine Lustige BlƤtter in 1932:
Wdym you hate Stratt? Without her you donāt get a story
Omg I love this piece. Grace the hanging man, content with his life but cannot avoid the changes coming; the ship his noose, the rope that binds him to his fate; the blood red stars beside him, Olesya and YƔo the angels haunting him in the background. Eva Stratt, the one who holds it all on her back, the world is literally on her shoulders, the Petrova line on her neck. She will not falter, cannot afford to move, and yet still she glares at us. Eva challenges us, daring us to ask if we could do better, if we could hold her burden for even a fraction of the time.
Eve, the mother of sin, who held the world in her hands and was cursed for not knowing.
Eva, director of the task force, who now holds the world, and still must curse man to save it.
In the end, it always falls on a woman. I could never hate you Eva Stratt
Iām paying to force seven thousand strangers to see a photo of my late husband having fun with his dog. Tumblr Blaze is totally worth it. XD
Thank-you to all of my new Internet stranger friends for being so gracious about having my post shoved onto your dashboards. I loved reading all of your kind tags and comments! Both Martin and Bosco have been gone for several years now but for 24 hours, they felt very present in my life. I greatly appreciate this gift. ā¤ļø
Reblog to have your dashboard be visited by the spirit of joy that death can end but not erase.
Thank you to everyone who commented in their tags or messaged me. Indeed, today is āMartin and Bosco Dayā. I originally whimsically blazed this photo on 13 July 2022. I never expected Martin and Bosco to travel so far and make so many new friends. The experience has been such a gift for me.
itās an honest mistake

āThe loss was sudden and unexpected,ā Neillās family said in a statement Monday.
Neillās career climbed an upward trajectory from the early 1980s to the late 1990s. His portrayal of real-life spy Sidney Reilly in the 1983 TV miniseries āReilly, Ace of Spadesā was met with acclaim and largely marked his breakthrough on the international stage.
He played a Soviet submarine officer in the 1990 film āThe Hunt for Red Octoberā and the husband of Holly Hunterās Ada in the Oscar-winning historical romance āThe Pianoā in 1993. Other notable roles include a haunted astrophysicist in the 1997 sci-fi horror film āEvent Horizonā and a middle-aged Merlin, the wizard from the tales of King Arthur, in the 1998 NBC miniseries of the same name.
The latter role earned him one of two Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nominations.
In the 2010s, Neill maintained his presence in TV and film with roles in the British crime drama series āPeaky Blindersā and New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititiās 2016 comedy adventure āHunt for the Wilderpeople.ā Neill had more than 150 screen credits.
In 1991, Neill was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to acting. In 2007 he was made a Distinguished Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, the New Zealand royal honors system, and in 2022 he accepted a knighthood.
Following his reprisal of the role of Dr. Alan Grant in the 2022 film āJurassic World: Dominion,ā Neill revealed he had been diagnosed with a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He described his cancer battle in his 2023 memoir, āDid I Ever Tell You This?ā
In an interview with The Guardian in 2023, Neill said he would like to live āanother decade or twoā but that he was ānot afraid to die.ā
āI canāt pretend that the last year hasnāt had its dark moments,ā he said of his cancer diagnosis and treatment. āBut those dark moments throw the light into sharp relief, you know, and have made me grateful for every day and immensely grateful for all my friends. Just pleased to be alive.ā
Itās hard work being Goth
