To be frank, I think Doombringer being a survivor would genuinely ruin Taph's life, him being a killer is enough of a problem already without having to sleep in the same space as him and having to know that he's nearby at all times.

In FS, there's reasons I don't really want to spoil for why this could never work, let's just say he's done worse than just manipulating Taph and he'd be rejected alot worse. But in that au, he hates them, and he used them to target Builderman. Though in this case, it's almost better, because he cares so little about them as a person that he'd probably just ignore them and act coldly, the only people he truly spites are the other admins. But I think here, since Doom holds so little power over anyone, the admins would look out for them, especially Shedletsky, he really doesn't like Doom. (Spoiler here, but their shared dislike of doombringer was my way of mending the problems between those two.)

In the case of lovesick, I'd argue the situation would be a lot scarier and a lot worse, because Doom is like...almost kind of obsessed with Taph. Again, I don't want to spoil things, but he was...in love with them? For a short time, in a kind of weird way, and Taph was also definitely in love with him even if they didn't have time to understand it. It's so much harder to be around him again here because both their feelings are so conflicted. Because of the way he abused them, he made Taph feel emotionally dependent on him, it's hard to forget.

Before they both die, I will say that their feelings are majorly different, Taph was fully obsessed with Builderman and had forced themself to forget about Doom, projecting their love for him onto their fantasy of BM instead. In Forsaken I see them growing closer to BM, someone who is kinder, but irresponsible, and lets them become obsessive by hanging around with them and excusing their odd behavior because he doesn't mind it. This would completely shatter when you throw Doom into the situation.

He still hates Builderman, and he's already a bitter and spiteful person, now he has lost everything he fought to gain since the admins disappeared, hes at his lowest, stripped of any control, Taph being there makes it worse. Taph falls back into the same mindset as before, they're afraid, so they're careful around him, they avoid him, and if Doom glares at them for hanging around BM, then they'll avoid BM too. Taph isolates themself, they hide from everyone, including Doom.
