wowzers!

it takes your bandages and retreats deeper into its ship, chittering at you in its language to leave. you get the message. the outside of the ship has more external weapons than a peaceful vessel ever should. you are smart enough to understand this is either a wartime vessel, or the social tendencies of wherever it came from err to the side of paranoia at best and xenophobia at worst.

it learns the language it needs to communicate with you at a fluent level in less than a full year. during that year, you learn it is bitter, paranoid, and terrified. but you catch little glimpses of something smothered beneath that. HE is extremely curious, he is capable of a sort of very dark humor. he matches your intelligence. when you met him, he had not touched nor spoken to another living being in four full years. you watch him take up gardening. he claims he has no attachment to these plants whatsoever, but you know he is lying. he is bad at it. you convince him that the food on earth is safe to eat. its better than the nutrient paste he's been eating for years now, which isnt even safe for him to eat, as unlike earth bees, he isnt meant to intake anything with a high liquid content or else the "muscles" in his throat will tear themselves apart.

you watch his carapace get brighter and he returns to a full (and frankly impossible) strength that you didnt know something his size could have as he eats better. he does not believe you when you tell him the people here are also safe to interact with. he says if they knew what he was, they would shred him. you tell him he is stupid. you have this conversation thousands of times before he tells you what he is exactly. You are a doctor and scientist. There is a multi-generational genetically engineered supersoldier trained from hatching to conquer stranded in your backyard. had things gone the way they were supposed to, your entire species might be gone by now. the hypercolonistic galaxy-wide empire that sent him sent him for the purpose of spearheading an invasion. he is the favored child of his queen. the posterboy of a perfect soldier for their military. his species is hated among those who know about them for a reason. but there will be no invasion. the feed still traveling through space back to them will show them there is an acronian on the planet, and therefore it will be marked not to touch. at least you have a name for what species splendid is, now. and his ship is broken, anyway. it wont ever leave the atmosphere again.
