I'VE GOT TO GET OUT OF THIS PLACE!
...is the opening line of Bat on Fire's second album, ESCAPE FROM HADES. Happy Monday, it's Greek Week everyone!
EFH released in 2009 and follows the story of an unnamed main character as he battles multiple Greek gods after breaking his way out of the underworld Hades and into the river Styx, a place between the underworld and the land of mortals. His mission is to plead with Zeus, hoping he understands that the protag has been wrongly accused and sent to Hades by another god.
As usual, Karlos did a beautiful job of writing such a detailed display of hardship, grief, fear, and rage for this story. The originality of it shines through as you move through every chapter of the story and the massive amount of research done to provide personality and accuracy in the characters in EFH is evident. The musicianship is also no joke ... Like always, the boys worked their magic and portray an amazingly wide array of emotion with just their instruments.
This week I'm going to be delving into this album track by track, breaking down what's goin' on in each chapter of Escape From Hades and giving my personal opinion of it. Lyrics, pictures, and YouTube links to come too!
