ALL THINGS RAD ABOUT PROG METAL LEGENDS BAT ON FIRE ....A monstrous bat, gigantic in size with a 7 foot wingspan and scraps of flesh dangling from its bones.... WE LOVE FUCK YEAH, KOFFIN KATS!
Well, pardon my inactivity. I told myself I wouldn't post until I ripped TDoSS for this blog but um, this is kind of huge. Just 2 days ago Bat on Fire's "...and Then Blood Everywhere!" lineup hung out for the first time in over ten years on Hopper's boat.
Don't ask me, because I don't know either. Just a month ago John told me Karlos wanted nothing to do with BOF (and I've heard Karlos express the same sentiment firsthand on a livestream.)
I don't know what to do.
If they announce a show, you might not hear from me ever again. I might have a heart attack and die.
No luck yet.
Very, very very lucky.
P.S. I'm keeping the pride icon. If you know you know

As the MC climbs the walls of hell, he breaks through into Styx... and finds himself face to face Poseidon, brother to the greatest God and God of the Sea.
As he swims closer toward the god, he recalls the root of his determination - the person he's fighting for.
MC Initially insists that Poseidon simply let him pass through -- stating "My contest is not with you, but I will fight you from preventing me from making it through, earth shaker won't you listen to me? I didn't crawl through hell just to die in the sea."
It's apparent that MC isn't exactly all for violence at this point - in fact, he wants to avoid it but still makes it known that if a fight happens, he is going to win.
Poseidon puts up a fight but MC is more determined than he, and as they scuffle, a tip of Poseidon's trident is broken off and lands in the hands of the MC. He thinks quick and sends that trident tip directly back to Poseidon, which either kills him or damages him enough to allow MC to continue on.
To get into meta and quit talking about the story for a moment, there is an interesting inconsistency between the version of Broken Trident on my copy of Escape from Hades (very graciously sent to me by John Kay) and the copy that @ourfadedfuneral found on the internet...
His version has a very fucking sick guitar solo at 2:52. See here;
On the version that john sent me...:
There is no solo. It's also ten seconds longer than the SoundCloud version.
This is one of the many slight inconsistencies I've noticed on the version given to me by John and it leads me to believe that the version of Escape From Hades I have uploaded is... not the finished album!:(
We take what we can get.
See you around again tomorrow for more cool shit about Escape from Hades!
THE FIRST TRACK OF BAT ON FIRE'S ESCAPE FROM HADES BEGINS WITH A SHOUT OF TERROR, A PROCLAMATION OF DESPERATE NEED--
"I'VE GOT TO GET OUT OF THIS PLACE!"
This is the first track and title track of the album, which really sets the mood of corruption and desperation that we'll see throughout the rest of the album.
When you look at the lyrics, you can see that our MC insists he is innocent, that he was wrongfully sent to Hades by the hand of a God, a god that made an error...?
Throughout the rest of the song, the MC is insisting that this is a "test of his faith", stating his heart is pure and this gate to hell he was thrown into was opened with lies. by the third verse, he states
"Everything I ever wanted, was taken
Everything I ever needed, you threw it away!
If it takes all of a lifetime, I'll find you"
It's clear that MC is seeking vengeance against whatever god sentenced him to Hades. At this point, we have no idea what our MC did to be sent there.
By the end of the title track, he expresses yearning for somebody back in the land of men. The only thing MC wants is his special someone, it's what's driving him to - literally - climb through hell.
Even so early on, just past the first track, I found myself wondering if the MC would end up being successful in escaping his treacherous circumstances. I really like the way Los and John wrote the MC of EFH as somebody who has clearly done something fatally wrong and won't admit it. The MC's constant insistence that he is absolutely not meant to be in Hades is just.. obviously a lie. It leaves you as the listener wondering what he really did.
I'd personally like to believe it had something to do with his wife that he mentions a few times later on down the line. We'll get around to that sometime soon.
Also, this song has one of my favorite bat on fire lyrics, the opening line "I've got to get out of this place" is delivered with so much terror, I just fucking love Karlos's voice.
Anyhow, this is just the beginning of the story of ESCAPE FROM HADES. I had to retype my entire analysis because of course it didn't post last time :)

I'm a little underprepared for Greek week. In usual Wayne fashion.
Here are the lyrics to The Death of Solomon Scarlett to make up for the weird post timing that's gonna be happening for the next few days. Yes I will upload the actual album soon. I know the millions of Bat on Fire fans are just sweating with anticipation for this.
...is the opening line of Bat on Fire's second album, ESCAPE FROM HADES. Happy Monday, it's Greek Week everyone!
EFH released in 2009 and follows the story of an unnamed main character as he battles multiple Greek gods after breaking his way out of the underworld Hades and into the river Styx, a place between the underworld and the land of mortals. His mission is to plead with Zeus, hoping he understands that the protag has been wrongly accused and sent to Hades by another god.
As usual, Karlos did a beautiful job of writing such a detailed display of hardship, grief, fear, and rage for this story. The originality of it shines through as you move through every chapter of the story and the massive amount of research done to provide personality and accuracy in the characters in EFH is evident. The musicianship is also no joke ... Like always, the boys worked their magic and portray an amazingly wide array of emotion with just their instruments.
This week I'm going to be delving into this album track by track, breaking down what's goin' on in each chapter of Escape From Hades and giving my personal opinion of it. Lyrics, pictures, and YouTube links to come too!
I'm putting a pause on posting for a short second because um... I need some time to rip a CD and won't have time to look on the web for pics to queue ;w;
