My friend who I play rdr2 with posed a very interesting concept that Molly and Javier are incredibly similar in the ways that they have an unhealthy, selfless loyalty to Dutch which led them down tragic paths. I've explained a bit about Javier's in my discussion about him being a representative of the immigrant experience, but it goes so much deeper in many ways.
While Molly did have a choice in coming with Dutch to America which is what makes her predicament slightly different they both ended up in similar positions. Giving most if not all of their money to the gang when they could, following his every order and never once wanting to believing they could doubt him.
Ofc Molly has much more of a backbone than Javier and ends up standing up for herself and obviously gets killed which is incredibly tragic, especially when her neglect and manipulation went unnoticed for months. Part of me also thinks that her graphic murder was what frightened Javier "into line" as it were and forces him to ignore any doubts in regards to his own safety. We see him question Dutch post-Guarma but is quickly shut down, and following Molly's death his decision is pretty much made. He's too scared to potentially try and live on his own in a racist, unforgiving nation and can't go back home so his devotion to Dutch is really all he has. Similarly, it was all Molly had but she was punished for feeling heartbroken and trying to find solace for herself.
I don't think they'd get along as individuals who would have heart to hearts but my friend said that they'd probably have one drunken night together in which they casually, subtly suggest that maybe the man they believed in isn't in his right mind.
