“Somebody, definitely. I just don’t know who or why.” 

“I agree with that. Although, my brother has a short temper so it wouldn’t surprise me if he sucker punched another one of these guys.” The brunette laughed. “I’m Reyna.”

“Archer wasn’t even born with a fuse, she just goes straight to fire. ‘M Ryatt.” 

“Ooh, good idea. I’m starving, and nothing sounds better than a bag of Sriracha doritos right now.”

“Girl, please, Cool Ranch is the only type of Dorito that even matters.” 

“M sorry for your loss. I lost my brother, too… I’m Grier, by the way.”

“I’m Ryatt.” 

“Well, somebody must have said something. It’s 2019 and we all live in the age of social media.”

“Without wifi there’s not much I can see. I mean, everyone in the Verizon and Sprint stores probably croaked too. Mm, what should I even look up? Nobody is hashtagging this shit.” 

“There’s like three brunette guys. And anyways, guys don’t really do it for me. Your sister would totally throw hands first though.”

“Hey, you’re a hot lesbo, Lex, go off.” 

“I’m willing to bet Archer and that really pale brunette girl fight first.”

“Probably. Or the hot brunette guy.” 

“I don’t even have my phone. I dropped it when I was running to find a paramedic. I’m sure it’s crushed to dust by now, though. Hopefully somebody can get the internet back up and running so we can google what the heck just happened.”

“I...don’t think there’s anyone reporting about what happened.” 

“You’d get along with my little sister. She’s around here somewhere. She always wanted the world to go all Walking Dead or some shit.”

“My little brothers’ were zombies for Halloween one year. They like ‘em too.” 

“Are we gonna place bets on who kills who first?”

“I vote my sister offs everyone before anything else. ‘M Ryatt, by the way.” 

“Okay, well I think we can at least have 24 hours to grieve and process what the fuck just happened. Besides, we don’t even know if we’re going to survive. We may just be dying slower than the others.”

“Did you see people die today? It was quick. It was clear that whoever was dying as dying and who wasn’t, wasn’t. We’re not dying slowly. We’re survivors and we need to figure out why.”
