“I guess so.” Lily said, holding onto her spear, “Let’s see if they’ll listen.”

"Well, light and dark if you want to go stereotypically...?" Lance mused, "I guess we want white to win..."

Lily followed along and sighed. She wasn’t sure about any of this.

"So, the ground is a chessboard..." Lance mused as he looked around, "Are we stuck in a giant chess game..."

Lance laughed a little, not letting go of her hand, “At least we’re having fun.”

Lily got her balance again and sighed. “Can you have fun when trying to stop a war?”

Lily laughed a little and nudged him. “Come on!” she said, “Be serious! We got a war to stop!”

"Yeah, I know." Lance said, "But if there's one thing I know, it's that your audience needs to be happy if they want to enjoy and get to the end." Lance pulled the hammer off of his back.

Lance laughed a little, not letting go of her hand, “At least we’re having fun.”

Lily got her balance again and sighed. “Can you have fun when trying to stop a war?”

Lily smiled. “Lance, I knew that already.” she said jokingly, “But seriously. Let’s go home.”

“Alright, let’s get going…” Lance said, trying to smile, “We need to go to Skaia… Unless you wanna go cuddle with bunnies some more…”

“As much as I love them…” Lily said, “I just want to go home. I-I miss my parents… But… What if that meteor did hit where my house was…? It was a small town and… And…” She began to tear up. “Wh-What if they’re dead…? What’s the point of going home if I can’t see them again…?”

Lance hugged her, rubbing her back, “No… N-no, it’s okay… It probably didn’t really happen… This was a game… We’re probably in some super immersive virtual reality…”

Lily hugged him back. “O-Okay…” she said, wiping her eyes, “Then let’s go… Do whatever we have to do.”

“On Skaia there is a war. We gotta help with that until we find the exit…” Lance explained, trying to make sense of the whispers.

Lily nodded. “Okay, then. Let’s go stop us a war.” she grabbed her spear in one hand and Lance’s hand in the other. Then, she took off towards Skaia.

Lance held her hand tight. Not our of fear of falling, of dying. He was scared of losing her.

Lily landed Lance down gently but stumbled a little landing herself. “Woah!” she said, getting her footing, “Still not used to this.”

Lance laughed a little, not letting go of her hand, "At least we're having fun."

“If you have to rely on me,” Lily began, “then trust me. We’re going to go to Skaia and deal with this. And, if something were to happen to you, I’ll get you to your quest bed. Don’t worry.”

Lance looked at his hand, wiping of the little blood from the scratches, "I'm sorry Lily... I'm sorry I'm such an idiot..."
