Yuna lives on a planet so far into the future that the polar ice is non-existent. The oceans have risen due to global warming, they are now covering 90% of the world’s surface.
Some people survive by living aboard ships that wander the sea. Some people survive in large floating raft communities, some as big as cities.
The currency of this world is no longer paper or coins, but Trading Cards.
Yuna is a deep Diver, one who scrounges the depths of the sea for scrap, treasure, and Trading Cards.

Air. Need air. Gotta surface.
She puts her loot in a net tied to her board. Takes up the small anchor and paddles to land.
She grabs onto a rock and hoists herself up, careful not to slip on the sharp volcanic rocks.
She gathers her loot up together for perusing.
The silver card packs she lays into a row in front of her, seated, thinking.
Should I open these packs? Or save them.
Here’s the second problem.
They sell for a decent sum sealed. But if any of these contain a rare card it’s worth much more than a sealed pack.. The card market is absolutely hungry.
It’s a gamble. The rest of the scrap I pulled up can be bartered away for relatively stable prices. But the cards..! The unspoiled cards are the real kicker.
She sets the packs carefully aside and peers about. The restless sloshing of the ocean water battered against the beach stones.
I aught not to dally on this crag if any marauders were to show up.
She looks back at the packs.
If I turn them all in sealed, I’ll still have enough money to get gill surgery. I’ve been saving up for months. I suppose I don’t need to take this gamble any further.
She puts them back in the bag.
I’m just going to sell them as-is at raft city.
