Speedy Gonzales Headcanons
Speedy, my underrated king. I really hope I give you justice with these headcanons.
-Speedy is a big nicknamer! He often gives nicknames to his fellow Looney Tunes, both in Spanish and in English, though pretty much every Looney Tune has a personal nickname from Speedy. He has almost never called someone by their actual names. When he does...you know he's pissed.
-Speedy is very impulsive in general, preferring to do things in the moment. He has a lot of trouble planning things out and following routine.
-Going off of that, Speedy often overlooks details. He’s not very in-depth when it comes to subjects outside of running and sports…which can make him come off as very superficial and a bit shallow.
-Despite these flaws, Speedy is INCREDIBLY nice. He's probably one of the more genuinely nice Looney Tunes. He's never said a mean word to someone in his entire life.
-Unlike the rest of the Looney Tunes, Speedy doesn't have an ego. He's perfectly content with who he is and where he's at and thus, doesn't feel the need to brag or boast.
-Speedy is very good at simplifying things. What I mean by that is he can easily understand complicated subjects and then break them down into pieces for other people to understand. But because he's not focused on other topics outside of running and sports, this quality of him often gets overlooked.
-Speedy is best described as an ambivert. He’s just fine socializing but he finds himself needing to recharge after a long day spent talking to people. He greatly cherishes the times he’s alone and can get cranky when it’s interrupted or he doesn’t receive it.
-Has a habit of….exaggerating his greatest feats. He’s not a liar per say, but he does love making up tall tales and stories to tell his friends.
-Speedy is surprisingly talented at acrobatics! He loves flipping and doing stunts in the air, sometimes mid-run.
-Speedy’s hair is very greasy. This is because he NEVER takes off his sombrero. Honestly, he doesn’t think he even CAN.
-Speedy loves any music with a beat he can dance to. Sometimes, you'll find him randomly dancing in the middle of a room. He is literally the phrase "dance like no one's watching."
-Speedy is a bit superstitious. He believes in old traditions (such as throwing salt over your shoulder, etc) and has a few lucky charms. That being said, he’s not superstitious to the point he automatically hates anything supernatural, but it’s enough to be noticeable.
-Does NOT like firearms, mainly because of how loud they are and how they startle him easily. His cousin Slowpoke and Yosemite Sam being a big lover of them is not fun for him.
-Speedy is surprisingly respectful of death. He recognizes that while life is precious, death is also just as valuable. He takes time to give proper respect to dead or destroyed things.
-Similar to Roadie, Speedy has an inner speed sense and can instantly tell when someone’s speed isn’t natural. And he WILL call them out.
-Like Tweety, Speedy is also sometimes assumed to be a child (though not as much as Tweety). This doesn't annoy him as much as Tweety, but he WILL confidently correct them.
-Speedy DOES have a vista but it’s a bit…wonky and the circumstances surrounding how and why he decided to get one are confusing, being that Speedy is a Mexican Toon created in America. What doesn’t help is that Speedy changes the story every time…the one thing constant is that he continuously makes fun of how confused the government was on what to do with the situation.
-Speedy doesn't easily hate people. He's fun, he's charming, and he earnestly believes everyone has some good in them. He does not, however, tolerate racists. To him, there’s zero excuses.
-When asked about being censored, Speedy will honestly say it wasn't a fun experience but he tries not to dwell on it. He doesn't want to fill his heart with anger, as he knows how much energy it'll sap from him and resentment it will breed. He was moreso affected by his protege Lightning being censored than he was himself. THAT genuinely got him furious.
-Speedy does not like being in pictures. He dashes off the minute he sees a camera in someone’s hand and purposefully blurs photos of himself if someone manages to capture him.
-Speedy deeply fears losing his speed. His speed is tied to his self worth and identity...without his speed, who is he really?
-Speedy ADORES Slowpoke. He’s his cousin, his family and his laid back energy does wonders for the mouse’s own stress levels…but naturally, disagreements occasionally arise between them. Mainly concerning Slowpoke’s love of guns.
-Best friends with Tweety Bird! They bond over experiences with Sylvester and being similarly small and clever. They like to go over notes and scripts together.
-He is close to Sylvester as well. Not as close as Tweety is, but still quite close. Sometimes, they’ll watch their old cartoons together and snark about the situations that they got into.
-Often races with Roadie for fun. He likes to consider Roadie a friendly racing rival.
