I was born from a religious family. I also lived in religious environment because all of my family member are so amazing. since I was a kid, I always surrounded by great people, they’re so faithful with their beliefs in Islam and most of them have became someone who are important in society. and I am very grateful with that, because if we have someone like that somehow it really helps us to get along in society right?. I’m not saying it in a bad intention, but it is a fact.
As time goes by, I finally have grown up and become a 23 yo person who still unmarried. as a woman who lived in their early twenties. I often heard some questions which kind of obvious what-the-answer-is, but they kept asking about it even if they already know about it.
“when are you gonna married?“
“did you even ever have a boyfriend?“
“why are you still single? maybe your expectation is too high!“
I often heard that kind of questions all the time from people around me. Some of them should be old enough to considerate the situation. some of them should be clever enough to understand. but in fact they don’t just because they made it as their habit to questioning it.
Listen. Open your ears widely then listen carefully because this is my answer:
“It’s my choice. so please, appreciate my decision“
We, a-bunch-of-single-women might be still not prepare to marry. we might even still not think about it yet. but don’t forget, we are not a robot or machine who don’t have heart, who always get ordered to do something, and just listen just because they have to. we are a human being, we have our own limits of how much we can take a joke. and I think, how much they can take it is something that you should know about. Every people has a different personalities. and as a good friend, we have to be considerate about it right? so, when we talk with them, we should concern about which questions that appropriate to say and which is not.
some women might be quite shy about this matter but some women don’t. they didn’t share it may be not because they really fine about this. It simply just because they didn’t want to. and they decided to not listen to it because they were just sick of it. but, if everyone like that. who are going to speak about it? who are going to fix the problems? you know, for some people, it attacks their mental health. so stop meddling in other people’s business.
People have the rights to choose their own choice, right? everyone do.
