Honestly the best part of Gideon the ninth is when Gideon is under her "vow of silence" And everyone's just like 'gosh what a scary cool mysterious strong stoic intimidating serious cultist, I'm scared to look at her' meanwhile Gideon is all like 'what a great pun. Im going to write it down so I remember it for later.'

my absolute FAVORITE part of the entire locked tomb series thus far is 100% without a doubt the sequence directly before, during, and after Camilla and Marta's tabletop duel. it's unmatched: the horror aspect now outweighs any fun Gideon was having, all of the players know that cooperation is entirely off the table, the Second is trying to enforce military rule until the Cohort can get there, everyone except Gideon and Palamedes thinks Camilla is weak and harmless and an easy target, and they're about to be humbled. AND it has some of the best lines in the whole book. "Harrowhark rose to the occasion like an evening star"???? "Cam, go loud"???? "death first to vultures and scavengers"??? it's so good

tamsyn really did something with the dynamic of jod and the lyctors she was like i’m gonna take just some guy and his friends and make him god and them immortal but ten thousand years later they still kinda treat him like hes god but also like a guy they’ve been stuck being friends with for Ten Thousand Years but you can never tell which one it is because they’re all ten thousand years old and have moved far past normal human expression and communication structures and they’re all also kinda psychosexually obsessed with each other and have and Do fuck .. mercy alters her own dna at will to turn her hair pink for funsies . god makes a none pizza with left beef joke . g1deon is actively attempting murder for most of the book . god has a threesome on the dinner table

honestly it would be so fucking funny if alecto = nona and that’s just her personality. everyone’s like she’s crazy shes evil she’s gonna kill god and then you pan over to alecto and she’s making a daisy chain. turns out the ogs didn’t like her bc she was too nice and that was actually the outlier. she made them all presents by hand and they were like that’s it she’s gotta go
