Call me Kit! I use they/them + it/its pronouns. This is a Warriors-themed gimmick blog. While I don't actively follow the series anymore, the universe is something I've held near and dear to my heart since I was a single-digit age. It looks like the cat soap opera books are here to stay lol
This blog is run by an adult; minors are welcome but I will not engage beyond my askbox, please respect that boundary (and for the love of StarClan DO NOT tell me how old you are, what grade you're in, or anything like that. In fact do not tell ANYONE online that information!!! Be safe on the internet you guys!!!!)
I type the way I speak, which often includes cursing and CAPSLOCK TEXT for emotional emphasis. I also use tone tags. If that bothers you, this is not the blog for you.
This blog was directly inspired by @spark-rates-warrior-names
INTERACTION GUIDE:
There are a few "games" I offer here:
Game 1: Send me your character names, and I'll rate them!
Please keep it at 10 names MAX per submission. This is to help keep me from getting overwhelmed.
Silly / joke names (think "Smokeweed") will be rated, offensive names will not. If I've made a mistake and rated something offensive, please inform me via my askbox or DMs so I can remove the post ASAP.
YES, you may send multiple asks in a row!
Ratings are made on a scale from 1 - 9
1 = this name personally isn't "my thing", but thank you for sharing regardless!
9 = I LOVE this name; 9 outta 9 leader's lives gifted upon this character
Game 2: Send me your cat pics, and I'll come up with a Warrior name for the kitty!
May or may not include speculations about their personality or role within a group. This will be random; just depends on if anything comes to mind when i see them :)
YES, you may use these in character creation! Though I won't be offended if you don't.
Game 3: Send me a description / art of YOUR unnamed character(s), and I'll give you a list of names to choose from + why I chose them
DO NOT send art that you have not personally made or had commissioned from another artist. AI-generated images will be ignored.
DO NOT send a character that you have not personally made, commissioned, or adopted. Yes, even if the creator gave you permission. This is to help me avoid accidental participation in art/character theft.
Again, feel free to use my suggestions, but I won't be offended if you do not.
Game 4: Send me a CANON character name + description; I'll rate it and tell you my opinion!
Any Arc is free game, but personally I haven't read anything beyond The Last Hope's release outside of DotC and a handleful of Super Editions & novellas. If you want my true, blind reaction, go for anything based after OotS.
If you give any character details, please try to avoid major spoilers for the series. This is more for viewers of the blog who actually intend to read the books at some point. (For example, try not to directly reference deaths, plot twists, future relationship drama/love triangle arcs, etc.)
Details such as age, Clan, rank, possible parentage are fine! (Ex: "This cat is a Firestar descendant", "This cat is half-clan", "this cat was born [in another group / a loner / a kittypet], but joined RiverClan to be with their mate", "this cat had their apprenticeship prolonged due to an injury", etc. Act like you're vagueposting about someone you work with /silly)
I will also do Tribe- & Ancient-style names, but you've gotta specify if that's what you want; otherwise I'll default to the typical Clan-based naming system.
Additonally,
A reminder that this is all for fun. I have my own naming system I tend to follow when it comes to the Clans, and this may influence my ratings. However, I mean no harm if I give something a low rating, and it is not a criticism of your character(s) - it's merely a reflection of my own personal tastes when it comes to Warrior names.
You're also welcome to compare my ratings with other WC name blogs!

Radio silence explanation: had to take my cat Mindie to the vet, and today we got the results. Gonna be pretty busy while we get more appointments scheduled and adapt to a new diet / health regimen. Thanks for understanding.
(Everything beyond the "read more" is just me venting TBH, feel free to ignore the rest of this.)
I was expecting renal disease given her symptoms, but I wasn't expecting it to have progressed so much since her last blood panel. She's gonna cost us a LOT of money in the upcoming months while we get her on a new diet & health regimen. It'll be worth it (obviously), but it's gonna be stressful taking such a hit to our savings.
I think I'm not freaking out so much bc i expected it (she's 17.5yo and otherwise has a sparkling bill of health), but it's still... really, really scary. I know it's not a death sentence or anything; we're gonna make a lot of changes to help support her body. We could still have several years left with her but like
That's my baby. My sweet baby lady. I've had her since she was 4mo. And now she's almost 18. She's old. I've owned her for well over half my life at this point, and it doesn't matter whether it's another 10 yrs from now, I'm never gonna be ready to say goodbye to her and it's going to absolutely fucking destroy me when she goes.
She's my soulmate pet. I want her to stay with me forever.

I have many more I can share if you are very interested :) 💜
Heronswoop { 5 / 9 }
A good traditional-sounding name! Herons are such big birds it's hard not to notice them when they're taking off or coming in to land. I'm fortunate to live in an area with lots of heron-suitable habitat and I absolutely adore seeing these guys perched on a random fence or branch. I imagine a cat named Heron would be rather large, but with an air of grace offered by their suffix. They may appear ungainly at first, but growing into big paws means you learn for to use that size to your advantage as you get older and more experienced. This is the kind of cat that could beat someone in a fight by sitting on them and just. Refusing to move until they tap out.
Briartangle { 7 / 9 }
A very evocative name! This cat seems tough and dependable. Thorny vines tangling around a den or campsite as a protective barrier, or perhaps making an annoying obstacle for hunters trying to chase their quarry through the brush. Briar is a gorgeous plant, but looks can be decieving—if you're not careful, those thorns will spill blood without a care. Honestly, if anything, it's your fault for disrupting them. Learn to respect the thorns. I imagine they'd have long fur prone to tangling. This warrior spends a lot more time grooming than their constituents; neglecting their fur-care routine would result in some of the worst matts known to cat-kind.
Cloversong { 6 / 9 }
Lovely, light, and whimsical—another good traditional name. I read this and picture an open meadow filled with bird and bugsong, and bright splashes of color from blooming wildflowers. Clover is a name I personally attribute to bi- and tricolor cats, so I'm picturing a calico. Their Clanmates think they have a lovely singing voice that suits their suffix very well. I think it'd be funny if this cat had a taste for birds, claiming they "fuel their singing voice" or something. Like a more whimsical version of "eat the heart of your enemies to gain their power", lol.
Shellspeckle { 5 / 9 }
Simple but charming! Shell- is a very pleasant name to me. This character strikes me as someone one the quieter side, polite and maybe a bit unassuming. Perhaps a spotted tabby, or with a lot of scattered white spotting to bring in the -speckle suffix. I like the idea they'd collect random trinkets, shells or otherwise. I think they'd get on pretty well with RiverClan in that regard.
Silentshadow { 8 / 9 }
Oooooooh I LOVE this one!!! Such great imagery—a cat silently stalking through the darkness after prey, or sneakily spying on their enemy from the branches of a tree. This name makes me think "espionage". I can see this character being rather small and slight, and that works to their advantage. Leader needs someone to scope the border for troublemakers or sneak into enemy territory to gather intel? This warrior's got your back.
Poppyseed { 5 / 9 }
Simple and to the point, with a well-fitting suffix that compliments the prefix nicely! Maybe it's bias from the name, but this one strikes me as a healer, or someone who has at least rudimentary knowledge of plants and their uses. Probably tricolored. I like the idea of a mostly-ginger tortie with a few, small flecks of black to match the image of poppy seeds scattered over the ground.
Cougarsnarl { 7 / 9 }
YESSSS Cougar is such a fun one!! I love cougars (or pumas, or mountain lions, or whatever reigional name y'all use), I think they're so cool. They're intimidating but gorgeoeus, and as someone who lives in cougar country, a genuine concern to be aware of when you're out hiking, but just. god i think they're so neat. I am absolutely biased on this name already, but adding -snarl as a suffix just amplifies the coolness factor. Have you ever heard a cougar scream? Absolutely terrifying. This warrior has one hell of a war cry, I can tell you that much. Big, imposing, defintely not someone you want to get on the wrong side of a fight with. Very Tigerclaw-star coded.
Please feel free to share to your heart's content :) it doesn't even need to be for a rating; I am always interested in hearing about people's OCs! (Just be sure to clarify you're not entering them for a rating if that's the case lol)
Maybe Sandy- is just another one of those names that tickles my brain, because I adore this one. Tough little ferns clinging to sandy substrate. It's so endearing! I don't have notes beyond that, I just really like this one and think it's cute <3
Leopardmoon { 7 / 9 }
Ooooh very dark and mysterious~ This cat comes across as stealthy and meticulous, and probably dark-furred to go along with the nighttime imagery. LeopardClan being important to canon Clan history (more or less) usually means characters named after the three Big Cats are significant in some way. I also know a lot of WC fans like to incorporate the moon into their Clans' religion in some way, so -moon as a suffix paired with Leopard also feels incredibly significant. This character has Protagonist Energy™️
Kestrelbriar { 4 / 9 }
Probably because of Kestrelflight from the books, but this name screams "WindClan" to me. I think of the Wind-Thunder border, where the moors start giving way to new-growth forest and a tangled, bramble-filled understory. While it isn't the easiest to flow off the tongue, and not a name I'd personally choose, Kestrelbriar has a lot of personality to it! A kestrel ducking around briars after its prey—or perhaps, defending its nest from invaders.
Heathdusk { 7 / 9 }
Heath- is another name I don't see used all that often, but I have a soft spot for. "Heathdusk" feels warm and arid, a sunbaked meadow at sunset where the air is still heavy with the day's heat but slowly turning into something more bearable. It smoulders. A warrior named this, I imagine would be known for being very loyal, perhaps to the point of becoming overbearing. Not one to start a fight, but definitely the one who will end it, you know? Don't talk dirt around this cat because they've got very few qualms about smacking some sense into you.
Tallwillow { 9 / 9 }
Tallwillow is soooooo pretty oh my gosh. I adore willow trees, and "willow" makes for a beautiful name no matter what IMO, but Tallwillow just has such a delightful, beautiful image attached to it. A huge, billowing willow tree, branches swaying in the breeze. I will fully admit I tend to overlook Tall- as a prefix entirely, going for names referring to the surrounding world over a cat's physicality (Long- and Heavy- also fall into this category.) HOWEVER. I believe I have been shown the error of my ways this day. I'm almost jealous i haven't thought of something similar to this one before! /LH
Swifthare { 6 / 9 }
Very fun, and very fitting! Hares are quick as hell, and you'll be hard pressed to catch one without some kind of trap or straight dumb luck. But they're also quite dangerous, wilder and scrappier than their rabbit counterparts. We've seen cats injured and even blinded by hares in the books (Longtail my beloved), not to mention their size. Those freaks can easily match or outgrow your average cat, and it's considered quite a feat in the books when a warrior (especially one outside of WindClan) manages to catch a hare. This cat is definitely known for their speed/agility, with that hare-like wildness on the side. While "Swift" may have originally referred to the bird swift, add -hare and it takes on a whole new meaning, and I really like that. Such an evocative name!
Sunvalley { 6 / 9 }
AUGH my "Valley" bias strikes again!! /silly
Sunvalley is another one of those names that instantly puts an image in my head, and if that wasn't obvious already, those are the names that really call to me. There's almost a sort of poetry to it, don't you think? As for the character, anybody named Sun- immediately makes me think "ginger/golden". This cat is bright as the Sun in looks and peresonality, with an air of tranquility offered by their suffix. I imagine they'd make a good friend, maybe goes out of their way to try and include the loners within the Clan in whatever it is they're doing. Can't have anybody feeling left out of the fold—a Clan can only function when everyone works together, after all!
Honestly, we seem to have similar tastes when it comes to making up names! I really, really like this batch <3
sending some cats I post about on my clangen blog @sparky-has-clans-woah :3 I'll probably send more asks later but uh yeah here you go!!
Dandelionstone
Flurrybillow
Burrbumble
Deltahope
Frozenleaf
Fishcloud
Wavequill
Thanks :3
Dandelionstone { 6 / 9 }
Honestly -stone is such an underrated suffix. Steady and unyeilding, weathering whatever comes its way. Dandelions are very similar in that way; they're some of the first plants to take root in barren lots no other plant could survive in. They're actually quite crucial for recovering ecosystems! Dandelionstone strikes me a someone who exemplifies qualities of both parts of their name: hardy, sturdy, driven, unrelenting - but in the slow, quiet way of weeds gently replenishing a barren field with greenery.
Flurrybillow { 5 / 9 }
Another name where I don't dislike it, but it also wouldn't be a name I'd personally use. However, that doesn't make it a "bad" name! I quite like the imagery it brings of a windstorm or snow squall. Makes me think of the "it heckin wimdy" fox hehe
Burrbumble { 4 / 9 }
The alliteration is fun, but something about the spelling makes my brain trip up when reading it. As a character I imagine a cat who is short and stocky, maybe a tad clumsy in passing. That kind of person who looks super unassuming but is secretly built like a brick house and WILL absolutely mop the floor with your unconscious body, lol
Deltahope { 5 / 9 }
This one is interesting! Delta- isn't a name I see used very much, and "hope" tends to be a loaded word when used in warrior names regardless of placement, often given to those who are looked to for guidance or inspiration, or whom survived great hardship. While this name isn't the easiest to flow off the tongue, it intrigues me and makes me want to know more about their story, which is important when it comes to naming a character! So I'd objectively call this a "good name".
Frozenleaf { 7 / 9 }
Very pretty! Frozen- pairs well with a lot of suffixes, and it tends to make me think of early winter mornings where the sun is shining but everything's still covered in a thick layer of frost that crunches under your feet. The kind of cold where anything that's left in shadow doesn't thaw for days or weeks until the temperature starts rising again. It's a tranquil sort of beauty, but brutal. Cold, decisive, maybe even cruel at times, and you can't help admiring it. It feels like someone who sticks to their guns even if it gets their hands dirty (or paws, in this case).
Fishcloud { 5 / 9 }
Not a bad name by any means, though the juxtaposition of "fish = water, cloud = air/sky" throws me off ever so slightly. Still, it flows well and makes for a fun name! This character gives me the impression of being very kind and bubbly.
Wavequill { 4 / 9 }
Again, not a bad name. There's a clash between the parts, however, that keeps me from giving it a higher rating. Waves evoke a smooth, rolling feeling, something that goes with the flow. Meanwhile, -quill is sharp and to the point (pun not intended). Though maybe that's intentional! It would offer an interesting reflection of a character who is expected to be calm and collected, but in reality is the opposite. They aren't the ebb and flow of tides, but the sudden swell and crash of a rogue wave.
Or maybe this is me waxing poetic nonsense about fictional cat names. I dunno, I just like overanalyzing things 😂
Any ideas on a possible Warrior name for my beloved girl, Groucho? She is very petite with unusually big paws. She was very bad at being a stray, but dreams that she could be a fighter.
Thanks for the fun game!
GROUCHO 😭😭😭 tell her i love her pls
Puffinfoot. Stocky, black-and-white bodied seabirds with large bills and feet. Their short wings and tail are adapted to swimming as well as flight, and who's swimming pattern is often described as being done "with a flying technique." Puffins are characterized as, in the kindest way possible, rather stupid birds. Although some animal experts have observed puffins displaying rudimentary tool use (such as holding a stick to scratch hard-to-reach parts of their body), so perhaps that's just human misconception! I'm rooting for them either way.
Colors aside, a bird that can do both sounds a lot like a stray who also wants to be a housecat, lol.
Pansyclaw. A small and delicate-looking flower, mixed with some spice! Pansies are notorious for rooting themselves into the tiniest cracks and crevices, I swear they're almost as talented as dandelions in that regard. I once saw a teeny-tiny, purple and white pansy the length of my thumb growing from a crack in the gutter lining the road. It was the only free-growing flower that wasn't being tended to in a garden I could see. Hardy little things!
Shadestrike. "Shade" because of the dark patches, "-strike" to represent that fighter's spirit! Plus some nice alliteration. I'd like to think it'd fit a spunky, rough-and-tumble fighter (who maybe loses more than they win, but damn if they don't get up again and keep trying!)
Assorted Prefixes: (aka: Names I think would work well, but didn't have much motivation to think of a suffix for lol)
I don't dislike it, but -daisy makes me stumble a bit. The character with this name strikes me more as an outsider who entered a Clan later in life, and adapted their original name into something that sounded more "Clan-like", rather than someone who grew up "in the system", for lack of better words. I feel like if the suffix were something else plant-related like -bud, -blossom, -fruit, -petal, -leaf, etc., it would easily gain a couple points, but this is more a personal preference than anything! All in all a cute name tho.
Brackensun { 7 / 9 }
When I see Bracken- as a prefix, i think of golden-browns. Admittedly, this is probably linked somewhat to Brackenfur from the books, but brackens as a plant, when dry, often turn a deep golden-brown or ruddy-brown tone. There's a lot of 'em where I live, so I'm used to seeing carpets of the stuff going brown in autumn. So, that paired with -sun as a suffix makes for a lovely mental image of someone who is earthy and warm in coloration, and in spirit! I'd like to think they'd be a tabby.
Laurelvalley { 8 / 9 }
Look. I'm a sucker for "valley" as a prefix and a suffix, so I'm absolutely biased. I have several warriors named "-valley-" in my Clangen games. It just pairs so well with so many things! A valley lush with huge, blooming laurels sounds delightful (and fragrant!)
Parsnipheart { 6 / 9 }
Parsnip is another favorite prefix of mine. If I end up with an overabundance of white-furred cats in ClanGen, one of them is bound to be named Parsnip. It just rolls off the tongue so well! Paired with -heart it makes for a fine, traditional-sounding name.
Snakespring { 7 / 9 }
Ooh another fun one! The mental image of a snake coiled and ready to strike, but with a more playful twist to it than a suffix like -leap evokes. I imagine this cat is quite agile and energetic, and a good hunter. Maybe a little playful too!
Fluffycloud { 8 / 9 }
Fluffycloud is adorable. I want to pet them. No other notes.
Gossamerbillow { 2 / 9 }
While I enjoy longer names, Gossamerbillow feels a bit clunky to me. The smooth mouthfeel of "gossamer" is trampled on by the bouncier inflection of "billow".
For a cat with this name, I picture them being on the quiet side, and rather graceful. Longhaired to accentuate the cloudiness of their name; I can just imagine a huge, feathered tail sweeping around them as they trot along their way!
Sandyfreckle { 6 / 9 }
This is an example of a longer name that really "clicks" with me! You can get a good mental image of what a cat named "Sandyfreckle" might look like. Maybe they're a bit "plain toast" compared to their Clanmates, but not everyone needs to have Protagonist Energy™️ /J
Dappledflicker { 3 / 9 }
I reaaallly want to like this one more than I do. Dappleflicker is rather charming, but Dappled runs into the same clunkiness issue as Gossamerbillow. I will note again tho, this is entirely a personal preference! Dappled and -flicker both make me think "flecked pattern/colors", so I picture a brindled tortoiseshell. Maybe with some white sprinkled in here and there, like "flickers" of light!
