Mina set down the suitcase she held and scrunched her face at the papers thrown haphazardly about the table. Then her gaze fell to the floor. She picked up a yellow teddy bear and hugged it to her chest. Her voice was barely above a whisper as she asked, “Are you all right?”

“Fine. I’m fine.” Eijiro’s reply might’ve been more convincing had he bothered to look up from what he was doing.

Mina frowned to herself and scanned the papers he was so interested in. Blueprints and coordinates and a whole mess of other things that looked like nonsense to her. She kept her voice soft as she said, “I saw your search results then did some digging on my own. I know what happened. I’m sorry.”

Eijiro shook his head. “What’s to be sorry about? He’s going to be fine and I’ll make sure of that.”

Eijiro snickered to himself then brought his mug to his lips. Sometimes he liked to sit and imagine that he was one of the agency bosses and had to look over his own credentials.
