Safety:

Before tying up your partner/sub/bottom, be sure you’ve done your research on safety and bondage. I won’t go into it too much right now but here are the basics.

Communicate with your partner and ask how their limbs are feeling. If they’re going numb then you’re cutting off circulation.

You should be able to fit a finger between the rope and the skin. If you can’t then it’s too tight.

Know how to undo your knots in case of emergencies. If you’re stuck with a knot that won’t budge, make sure you have scissors (or a knife) at hand.

When doing ties like the dragonfly sleeve, do not yank at the arms and pull them back. Be gentle and do it gradually so you don’t strain the arms or the joints.

This is my first shibari tutorial so I apologize if it gets confusing at all. I drew in some arrows to help guide where the ropes should go, but if in doubt, please view the video above.

1 - The finished tie

2 - Start with the center of the rope Place it across the front of the legs

3 - Wrap the ends around the legs one end goes up and the other goes down

4 - After wrapping the ankles bring the ends around from the back down towards the feet

5 - Twist the rope sending each end back the way it came and then pull the ends to the outside of the pinkie toes under and in-between

6 - Bring the ends to the center of the feet and twist again then go back around the legs

7 - Repeat for the middle toe

8 - Repeat again for the big toe

9 - Pull the rope back behind the ankles

10 - Tie it off with a simple knot
