Fanfic Update
Hey⌠Itâs been a while. I wouldâve posted this four days sooner, but a recent tragedy occurred in my neighborhood. Anyway, four days ago, Game Theory dropped its video on FNAF: Secret of the Mimic, and Iâve got some good news and bad news. The good news is that after watching the video, I can confidently say I made the right call going on hiatus months ago. The bad news is that after seeing it, I realized the hiatus will be longer than I expected. Weâre looking at not one, not two, but three videos covering Secret of the Mimic. Itâs so massive that itâs being presented in a timeline format, just like Game Theoryâs Ultimate FNAF Timeline. The game is that big. The way I see it, Iâll likely have to overhaul Into the Pizzeria once the third video dropsâespecially since my personal rule is to use Game Theoryâs videos (along with the books and the movie) as reference. The Ultimate FNAF Timeline was my line in the sand to avoid using outdated theories. So that means Mascot Co wonât be resuming until October at the earliest. Iâm really sorry about that. On the plus side, Iâve got a new chapter coming soon in another story: The Wheels of Fate Are Turning, part of the BlazBlue: Cross Rogue Effect seriesâand Iâve got a sneak peek ready:
âHello, brother⌠or should I even call you that?â
Gasps erupted between the Blades and Strikers the moment Jin said those words.
âBrother?!â
Ragna and Jin sighed simultaneously.
âIâm surrounded by anemic interdimensional tourists.â
âNot gonna lie⌠between your sword and your power, you were the last person I wanted to see.â
Ragna spotted another familiar face.
âAnd you have Tsubaki too. No surprise there.â
The Strikers raised their eyebrows.
âMore of Ragnaâs denizens? And⌠why do the other people surrounding the two look familiar?â
Tsubaki gasped. âSo you are from my worldâor an alternate version of it.â
Ragna raised an eyebrow. âWhat do you mean by âso you are from my worldâ? Out of everyone from the NOL, you were my third biggest pain in the ass.â
Tsubaki gasped. âThird biggest?! What have I ever done to you?â
âWhat did youââ Ragna stopped himself with a sudden realization. âWait a minute⌠Do you⌠remember my name?â
Thatâs when the shoe finally dropped on Ragna, as Tsubaki answered with a shake of her head.
âOh⌠God.â
Jin sighed. âAs you can see, Tsubaki has amnesia. In fact, the people you see before me all have amnesia.â
Ragna then looked at the other Blades, and unsurprisingly, did not recognize a single one.
He pinched the bridge of his nose. âDonât tell me⌠you four arenât even from my world?â
The Blades shook their heads. Another fallen shoe for the Strikers.
âTheyâre like us?!â Akihiko and Yang asked.
âExplains the sense of familiarity,â Blake and Seth answered.
âThis looks like a job for diplomacy,â Mitsuru thought as she stepped forward.
âSeems we share a common predicament. Are you familiar with the word⌠Keystone?â
âYou mean this?â
Jin produced the yellow shard, making the Strikers stare in awe.
âJin has a shard?! This could be either really good or really bad, depending on his intentions with us⌠well, me more accurately.â
Mitsuru smirked. âI wonât have to explain myself then. We need that shard, and itâs clear that you need it too. Why donât we team up to get our memories back?â
Jin put the shard away.
âWhatâs your name, maâam?â
âMitsuru Kirijo.â
âHmph. Your proposal is logical, but the shard gave me a little food for thought. Weâre dealing with a multiverse crisis, meaning all forms of the universe are popping up all over the place: past, present, future, and even alternate. I would normally tell the difference easily with the power of Order, but with the growing entropy in the air, my power is handicapped to a self-harm degree, and it will only get worse.â
Ragna narrowed his eyes. âWhat are you trying to say?â
âLet me ask you a question, âbrother.â Without my power, how can I tell if you really are Ragnaâand not some alternative version of him? For all we know,â Jin readied his blade, âyou might be an evil version of him.â
Everyone readied their weapons, much to Mitsuruâs growing disappointment and Tsubakiâs slight panic.
âNow hold on a minute!â she turned toward Jin. âJin, while youâre not wrong about the possibility, theyâre offering aââ
âDonât bother, Tsubaki,â Ragna interrupted as he drew his sword. âItâs clear that Jin already made up his mind. Itâs not like I have the best track record with alternative counterparts anyway.â
âBut youâre brothersâfamily! Do you really want to do this?!â Tsubaki yelled, wavering at everyoneâs resolve.
âRagna⌠JinâŚâ Akihiko and Orie spoke up. âShe has a point.â
The brothers sighed, then Jin spoke first.
âEven if heâs my worldâs true brotherâwhoâs supposed to be dead.â
Yukianesa was drawn, much to everyoneâs shock at that revelation about Ragna.
âYouâd be surprised by the many times we crossed blades.â
âYeah, from the moment I woke up, I knew it was less a matter of if I ran into you, and more of when.â
Ragnaâs Aramasa was drawn.
âAnd if Celica and Noel are watchingâŚâ
âI only have one thing to say in this matter.â
A nun and a blonde, green-eyed girl appeared in their minds.
âMother⌠Sister⌠forgive me.â
Jin jumped. âYour stubborn elder son and brother.â
Ragna jumped as well.
âARE AT IT AGAIN!â
They finished their thoughts as their blades clashed, signaling the start of the fight like a bell.
*CLANG!*
