“this is dumb,” she muttered, holding her little plastic pumpkin out to yet another booth. she’d long since gave up trying the usual line, instead just shaking the purple container at the person ( thing- they didn’t feel human to her ). “trick-or-treat,” she finally snapped when the booth attendee refused to drop the chocolates into the bucket. “thanks.” 

he huffs a sigh, waiting impatiently as the person in line in front of him refuses to say the necessary words.  mostly tooru just wants this - nightmare to be over.  he knows the murderer is still somewhere inside the park, and that puts him more than on edge.  finally the girl receives the chocolates, and as he’s stepping up to the booth in her place, he flippantly says to her, “you could try being more polite to the workers.”

( … ) “not to be THAT person, but are you sure you’re tall enough for this ride?”

tooru smirks, looking down at the other.  “if i’m not tall enough, then i don’t think many people will be,” he says with an air of confidence.
