Kingdom hearts is such a dangerous thing to get into because there are so many characters but almost all of them are interesting (in my opinion). I can't pick one part of the series to focus on because there's the union leaders with their friendship tested by uncertainty and the threat of betrayal, the sea salt trio just trying to stay together, the wayfinder family who are all so full of Catholic guilt, the radiant garden scientists doing fucked up experiments and losing their humanity, the foretellers who've had their identities completely overwritten by and placed all their faith in some mysterious man, the organization with their underpaid gay coworker antics, the dark road kids trapped in a slasher movie,

I think at least 90% of the people RBing this likely aren't able to appreciate that these signs are not only separated by 2 and a half months but are also audiences of two completely different companies with dramatically divided audiences.

not enough people get that the reason kingdom hearts is so popular is that it is completely 100% emotionally sincere about itself. This isnt the mcu, where we’re so afraid the audience will laugh at us or call us corny that we make fun of ourselves non stop, oh no. kingdom hearts completely commits to its premise of fusing the emotional power of disney style magic and optimism with final fantasy style drama and angst. And it works because they are unashamed and sincere. Thats why its so successful despite seeming ridiculous from the outside.
