Hey there, buds, long time, no see! Don’t worry, Necrotricks is still alive! I’ve just been quieter about working on it. I have some updates here for you.
- Possible name change: Necrotricks may either become Kinetricks or Kinecrotricks. Tell me what you guys like the most (if you like Necrotricks the most, that’s fine too)!
- Custom... lots of things. I’m going to get real into the scripting game, just so we can all get some cool custom menus and other fun stuff. This might take some time for me to work on, so just be patient while I work on that!
- Why’s the new demo not out yet? Because we’re pretty much down to three members now on the team, and I’m still the only programmer, scriptor, and spriter. I also have to do all the tilesets now, because Mod T stepped down to just writing. I also have a lotta school.
- The plot is also contributing to the wait. Ever since November of last year, I’ve been reworking stuff to make sure it’s actually charming and lovable. We also have two new main characters.

More about the different elemental dragon counsels and deities below!
- Mod Dexter
Aero-Hyterra is far-away planet that is managed by Dragons. These dragons have their own counsels, the highest counsel being the Life Dragons, who manage pollution and discovering cures for diseases. The Dragon Counsels offer the inhabitants of Aero-Hyterra the power and responsibility to manage elements as well. Those who gain these powers are classified as deities, and are blessed with a bit of Dragon power in order to fight greedy demons and manage smaller aspects. To become a deity, one must pass a trial without cheating or exploiting. Said trials could be anything from nurturing a child from death, to fetching treasure in a volcano.
Life Dragons: Manage pollution; illnesses; the balance of living, born, and dying. Tend to be kind and willing to aid others. Their stats lean towards magic and tank. The trial revolves around valuing life by nurturing a child and/or egg.
Sunshine Dragons: Manage physical light and shadows, and being able to move on. Tend to relish in praise, and try and bottle up negative feelings. Their stats lean towards defensive and supporting allies. The trial revolves around dealing with a traumatic incident without acting on harmful intentions.
Fire Dragons: Manage the balance of warmth and cold. Tend to be short-tempered and stats lean towards a balance. The trial revolves around being brave and tough enough to fetch treasure in the largest volcano of the planet, Red Hot Ridge, and bring it back.
Water Dragons: Manage the balance of land and sea, and temperments. Tend to be laid-back and stats lean toward tanky. The trial revolves around keeping calm in a perilous situation.
Death Dragons: Manage greed and the impulse to collect things for personal gain. Tend to be impulsive and protective of their collections. Their stats lean towards glass-cannon. The trial revolves around protecting your collection of personal treasures and feeling a desire to expand it.
Nature Dragons: Manage harvest, cooking, and keeping forests and gardens bountiful. Tend to be stubborn and stick to their routines persistently. Their stats lean towards a balance. The trial revolves around keeping order, even in the face of tension.
Sky Dragons: Manage weather and the longevity of relationships. Tend to be protective of their realm and worried about their relationships. Their stats lean towards glass-cannon. The trial revolves around managing a long relationship, even through obstacles.
Astral Dragons: Manage the progression of science and knowledge. Tend to be distant and focused on work. Stats are unpredictable. The trial revolves around performing an successful experiment through trial and error, while optimizing scientific and/or engineering knowledge. Unlike other Dragons, these ones have their counsel in orbit, and only contact their deities by radio.
Hello, hello! Quick update! I’ve decided to go with these larger overworld sprites instead of the previous idea of going with smaller overworld sprites. I feel that these sprites can emote a lot better (which is an important part of the humor, heh.) and will be easier for me to create!
Oh, happy day! We got our busts to work! The Dexter and Soren text are snippets from actual flavour text, while the other three are debug room text.
Also, updated Shammy and Soren’s designs and minorly fixed up the others. Soren’s battle sprites now have glasses, and Shammy how has some radical board shorts, heheh.
