This week I wrote 3 chapters for Mind Your Step and 2 for The Engineer’s Family, 1 for Harker, and one for I’m The Boss. For those who keep track, draft one of The Engineer’s Family is done. It’s 172,025 words long.

This week, I edited three chapters for Mind Your step and three for The Engineer’s Family, along with one for Harker and one for Going Home. I also read the outline to book 4 in A Heart’s Life, The Hunter’s Creed, to adjust it before I write that book next week.

Other stuff

This was an utterly uneventful week. I can’t think of anything worth talking about here, other than the catnip plant I transplanted to the front of the house was trampled a bit by stray cats, but they’re now leaving it alone, and it seems to be doing well. If it doesn’t survive as well, the plan is to carpet bomb that flower bed with catnip seed.

This week, https://www.twitch.tv/pixelgumtv read the prologue for the Harker Project and commented on it. It should be on their VoD for a while if you want to listen in. It was interesting, not as in depth as how I do them, but she did point out some places she felt could use improvement. One I have already fixed, and one I don’t know if it can be fixed unless I’m willing to completely restructure the prologue, which I’m not interested in doing.

It means I have to live with the possibility the ‘whiplash’ she felt two third of the way through will cost me readers. Or hope the blurb will give enough context that the reader will expect the change in direction in the prologue.
