3) I love when he says “Xhosa” with a just so subtle but correct click and then commences speaking Afrikaans or Xhosa, or talks about how Xhosa and Zulu are similar in the way Spanish and Portuguese are so he hopes he’ll get by with it... but his kids are learning Zulu so he will too. I love that he says “physics undergrad” and later “study obscure languages” with a M.D. ph.d. from an Ivy League uni in between because he genuinely loves to learn and he really doesn’t comprehend how amazing his brain is. I love his infinite kindness, even when he’s tired. I will always, ALWAYS, be in awe of how humble he is. I enjoy whenever 6 degrees of separation occurs and everyone lights up and can only compliment him. I quite enjoy how he worships. I look forward to teaching him things and learning from him. He has the wisdom of a 90 year old and the awe of a 5 year old. I love his lens, because what other people see as unlucky he sees as such fortune. He makes me giggle, for so many good reasons. He’s there when life is hard to listen, and when life is good to make you appreciate it. He’s super awesome at pajama-breakfast dates, and every other kind as well. He truly is the most interesting man in the world, and I’m so privileged to be close to him.

How do I survive campouts being broken? It took me a while to nail this stuff down. Avocados, pre-wrapped sweet potatoes, jerky, and baby food pouches are my main saving grace.
