It's Tradition! The 2nd Annual Speak! Free Family and Community Outdoor Concert is still a go! Originally scheduled for June of 2020, the concert was rescheduled due to the quarantine and social distancing issues connected to Coronavirus pandemic. Most Speak To The City events are Christian Believers Events, focused on prophetic worship, prayer and activating the authority of local believers to use their words to change the City. But the Speak! concerts are community-focused, providing an atmosphere of hope, family, community, love and faith for residents in the area of the City that has been most affected by violence, poverty and discouragement, and then enlisting the voices of those same residents in changing the words spoken about their own home City! Last year's concert was a fun combination of popular R & B, Motown, Positive Rap and Hip Hop and stirring Gospel music. There were representatives from a diverse array of St. Louis area City and County churches who engaged the community not only at the concert, but all day long by walking through the surrounding neighborhoods, greeting residents and offering prayer and encouragement. This year we expect to have even more local church and family organizations involved. And because we just felt that everybody could use an extra dose of inspiration this year, the entire concert will be based on inspirational and uplifting gospel music from an exciting roster of international gospel artist Candy West, gospel rapper Jalem, from Tampa, Fl, a return performance by St. Louis' own Cedric Shannon Rives and The Brothers and back again on the "ones and twos" The Infamous DJ Quinn! There will be free masks and hand-washing stations available, as well as social distancing spacing layout to help everyone keep safe and who knows, there just might be other surprises in store! Many are beginning to hear and answer a call to repentance: individuals, families, churches, corporations, organizations, people groups, nations...but what is repentance actually? What does God mean when He tells us to repent? Does it just mean to say sorry? How do we do it? How can we tell if someone has really repented? Are there any signs? We live in a society that has mastered sound bites, photo ops and 2 minute videos. Even the church. But there are some principles that require patient and diligent study to fully observe. Isaiah 28 talks about the Word of God being taken line upon line...that is, studied out little by little. Repentance is such a crucial principle for this moment in time when everybody is looking for and trying to achieve lasting change. We will take a look at Biblical repentance as a process for change, first for the people of God, individually and corporately and then to others. Yep, you read that right! We’re gonna take one hour each night for 7 days and walk through this Biblical process. This will not be your microwave Bible Study! Some people have already committed to begin fasting and praying even now. Ill be fasting in some of the days before we begin and as we embark on this journey to repentance.
