Final

For my final project, as stated before I wanted to create a piece of work that represent the unrealistic beauty standards not only society but social media has towards women. I carefully thought out a plan that would most accurately express this in a creative way. I found that using procreate to create an illustration of a woman would signify how we tend to view ourselves a certain way only looking at our own reflection but not how people truly see us, by adding a video collage I made in Canva, of an algorithm I curated to showcase how social media app track your productivity and the things you watch. This can be helpful or detrimental to a user depending on what they search for, creating in turn a rise in low self-esteem. If I had more time to work soon this project I would've refined my illustration a lot more and made a larger scale collage.

For my final project I’m executing the themes of beauty standards in today’s digital and social media era. Using procreate I created an illustration that I will later use as the focal point to the collage. I am currently in the process and figuring out how I can make a video collage instead of a photo one to showcase the algorithm and still keep the same effects and illustrations I have now. I also have an idea to animate the instagram like notification onto the collage if I can't make a video collage.

For my final project I’m executing the themes of beauty standards in today’s digital and social media era. Using procreate I created an illustration that I will later use as the focal point to either a collage i will put together in the background of unrealistic beauty standards women face at this time; I’m also thinking of making it somewhat of visual of a scrolling feed where the viewer can see in real time how social media and it’s algorithms can have an harmful effect on self image and self esteem in women in particular.

IDEA 1: CULTURAL IDENTITY

IDEA: Form first idea I will explore themes of cultural identity relation to hispanic and Afro Latino culture. This work will show case the struggles many of us face when it comes to our identity and how, when, and where we are "allowed" to express it. My execution will center around a portrait art that displays these struggles in a symbolic way. Using photoshop as my main techinal source for this idea is the most effective, give photoshops many abilities to collage, paint, create glitch effects, and mesh images together smoothly. The platform I choose will most likely be twitter "X". I find that twitter is more relevant when it comes to expressing the idea I choose as well as, many other current event and issues. I think this would be the perfect place to bring an awareness that would get a reaction/engagement from viewers. 

IDEA 2: Warfare on Beauty

IDEA: For my second idea I'd like to discover the current ideals behind todays beauty standards in the age of new media and its effect on women and girls. I want to execute this piece by creating a distorted and dismember image of a women, that alludes her "beauty" and creates something that is original in its own way, or perhaps create an illusion from a mirror. I would also use photoshop from this as I also believe it has all the tools I would need to finish this piece effectively. I also will most likely post it to twitter "X" because of its current relevancy. I could not find the source for my inspiration pics since I found them on Pinterest but for the final project whichever idea I choose will have any article or inspiration incorporated into the piece..

“Optimize the emission of chaos to prevent the collapse of creativity” is a statement that pushes the agenda to allow more chaos into the world around us. Chaos as we know it is subjective and can be defined in many different ways. What we define as chaos in our movement is the ability to provide a safe space for people to create freely without restrictions and boarders. To allow an artist or any individual to see the full extent of their creativity and artistic abilities. Throughout our whole lives we are confined to rules, traditions, spaces and etc which limit us. By hanging everything and doodling on aprons it allows for people to fully be immersed into the creativity that surrounds the piece while simultaneously creating the safe space for them to create. It ties not only my partner and I to the art but It entices others to want to participate, which is clear from our classmates. I hope that this project can continue to be an inspiration for others as it was for me.
